It was working fine for the past 4 months. I went to turn it on last night, and BAM, no video, just audio.

Worth checking that you haven't accidently pressed the HDMI button on the remote which is right underneath the source on/off button. It switches between HDMI outputs 1 and 2. I had this problem with sound but no TV picture from any source and it took a little while to figure out that my wife had accidently switched the amp to HDMI output 2 (which I don't have connected to anything) when she turned it off last night.

The Sr 6003 is not HDMI version 1.3a. and, it's not upgradeable via a software patch. What has everyone up in arms over this issue is that it's "HDMI"'s fault not your manufacturer. All AV receivers pre 2008-09 have 1.2 or 1.1 which does not work. The problem is what's called HDCP compliant. It's the movie and dvd makers crying about copyright protection. All you can do is to run HDMI direct from your DVD, Cable Box, etc. to the TV, then run Digital Coaxial or Optical to your receiver for audio. I know this is NOT what you want to hear! sorry!. We all have this problem! Hope this explains it for you. If you want more "Techno" on this issue, post a comment and I can get you anything you need.

No image, only sound when connecting marantz sr 7005 hdmi out to hdmi in on tv philips 47pfl9632d

Whatever video components you have, they should be, depending on inputs on TV, should be run to TV first. Recievers do have pass through ports but, are not the best way to achieve picture and sound. HDMI cables are great but you r reciever may not be able to transfer the video. What I suggest is taht you run your componenets, cable/sat box, DVD, etc. via HDMI, componenet, etc., to TV input, then, run audio out from TV, via(best) digital optical. You can use TV's menu to choose what you watch while, you only have the one input to reciever. Scan your recievers menu to make sure you have selected the proper mode(TV, Aux, Vid2, etc.).. If you run your video unit to TV with component cables, you will have to get your sound through separate cable(s). Component cables have graet video, but do not carry the sound.

Sounds like your receiver only supports HDMI "pass-through"

HDMI passthrough will only forward the video signals from the source HDMI port, it will not actively convert the Component Signal to HDMI.

My sr 7005 loses a signal for 2 seconds when watching a bluray or cable

It takes two, maybe more to tango - plus the cables that carry the various signals.

Can you define the signal loss better? Where do you detect it?

Audio, video, both?
Optical, HDMI, component ????

Try a different input or output port on the Marantz to isolate the source(s) as contributors.

I have an RCA home theatre...model rt2910. I have hooked my PS3 via HDMI to the TV for the video and used an optical cable for the audio. I set the PS3 to send video via HDMI and audio via optical cable....

You should have the HDMI plugged into the Home theater unit. The theater unit then is attached to the TV using the HDMI out.
The home theater unit passes the HDMI through to the TV while playing the audio for you.
You will likely need to select the correct source on your RT2910.
Here is a link to the manual.

See the section entitled "Connecting to HDMI Components" for an illustration of what I have described above.

New tv, new marantz sr5004, hdmi cable- no sound out of speakers

To really help you would require a bit more detail. HDMI is the video part of the signal - the audio part may require additional cables. Also, source material may play a role. I'd start by seeing if you have some audio outputs from whatever your source is and connecting those to the Marantz. Beyond that, I'd need more info to be sure I was giving decent advice.

I have a Marantz SR5004 AV Surround Receiver. There is an HDMI cable from the cable box to the Marantz and another from the Marantz to a Samsung HDTV. Everything is fine when the cable box is set to an HD...

Hello First off i would determine if the same thing happens when the cable box is connected directly to the TV with the hdmi cable.

If the picture goes out get a new box from your cable company.

If it works fine then its time to call Marantz

My Denon avr 4310 does a similar thing and after a lot of research it seems that the problem is with how digital signals are sent through the HDMI cable and how the control board of your receiver processes those signals.

Here what I mean

HDMI is meant to simplify connections by transmitting video, audio and CONTROL signals through 1 cable.

The problem becomes when you introduce a "middleman" in this case your receiver the control signal doesn't always get interpreted correctly.

My TV has the capability to "turn off" the "control" signal coming through the cable if yours does try that first (i have a sharp 52" led) this solved some of the issues.

My receiver has the capability to accept different inputs and merge them so here is how I get around the problem.

1. I use HDMI for video signal but also use the optical for audio this allows me to send the "complete" hdmi signal through the receiver and to the TV this complicates things but also allows you to get audio through your tv speakers so if you want to watch something late at night you aren't waking people up when the receiver gets loud. This stopped things like the video flickering or turning off.

You will have to play with your menu's to see if you can do this on your unit.

How to fix this easily? Dump HDMI and use component (red, blue green RCA's) for video yes its still HD and yes you will have to run audio separately. but it eliminates all the digital processing issues that receiver manufacturers haven't worked out.

I was pretty upset when I spent $1500 for my Denon receiver and Denon then told me that HDMI doesn't always make anything better.

Hope that helps

Remove the HDMI cable (out) to the speakers from the receiver.
Connect regular speaker wire from the receiver to the speakers.
Of course, remove the (now extra) HDMI cable from the tv.
That will remove the loop.
