I've got a GE dishwasher, a GSD2800. It's giving a C4 code and it just won't drain the water. I turned the breaker to it on and off, shut off the water supply and tried to cycle it but no luck. I can hear the motor running. Any ideas out there??

If this is a new install where there was no dishwasher before. Or if your garbage disposal has been replaced. Then the plug in the garbage disposal inlet for the dishwasher drain may still be in place. You will have to disconnect the dishwasher drain and see if the inlet is clear. If not the garbage disposal will have to be removed, the plug punched out and then reinstalled. Good Luck!

Won't Fill and will attempt to run wash cycle when turned off and door is closed

Hello ddux97 - I understand your dishwasher has power but will not fill with water. Here are a few simple troubleshooting tips that may help you resolve this issue:

• Make sure water supply is turned on. (First check for shut off valve under the kitchen sink).

• Check the house circuit breaker or fuse box, reset circuit breaker or replace fuse.

• Check inlet hose and make sure it's not twisted.

• Does float overfill protector (mushroom shaped object in tub) move freely? This is located in the bottom left front corner of the dishwasher.

• If this is a new install, then make sure the unit is not pressed up against the cabinet and the fill tube is not squeezed closed.

• Make sure the electrical wires going to the water inlet valve have not come off. It is best to turn off power to the dishwasher before reconnect wires, it doesn't matter which terminal is off both need to be connected.

• Make sure the drain hose is installed correctly. If the drain hose is routed under the floor as the dishwasher fills water can be drawn from the tub and appear to have never filled.

• Some models of Frigidaire dishwashers use a water pressure switch that will shut off the water valve if the tub over fills. These models do not have floats.

I hope these troubleshooting tips help you in some small way.

Dishwasher not draining

I am not familiar with this model, but in general, dishwashers have a grill or trap at the bottom near the back usually and it's held down by screws. SHUT THE POWER AT THE BREAKER PANEL AND SHUT THE WATER SUPPLY OFF! Then check the type of fastener and remove the cover. If it is obstructed by food debris, you'll see it there. Good luck and let me know if this helped.

Dishwasher won't drain all the way

A dishwasher will never drain all the way. It is designed to hold water as to not let the pump run dry and keeps the seals preserved.

Water drains back into dishwasher from sink or disposal

You've got a broken piece of glass or something holding the drain valve open.
Solenoid operates the valve to drain water from dishwasher into drain line.
When power shuts off to solenoid...valve closes.
If valve is blocked by a piece of glass or toothpick or a sliver of bone...it can't close and draining water from disposal or sink can back flow into dishwasher.

I had a piece of glass caught in mine.

Hope this helps...

Water continues to run, even when unplugged....

Hi, had the same problem. Water would not stop entering the dishwasher until the water valve for dishwasher was completely shut off. (Even when circuit breaker for dishwasher was turned off, the water still came into the dishwasher). Well after research, it is the water inlet valve. Replaced it yesterday and it is working as good as new. Look up this part online if you aren't sure what it looks like. Good luck,

GE Nautilus 4800 Dishwasher/Shuts off/ No water draining out

It may be the motor start capacitor or the motor or the wiring to it. Some units have a built-in switch that shuts the unit off if the motor doesn't start turning after a short interval. However, if it drains it usually means the motor runs enough to pump it out. These units usually stop draining when the fill switch opens at the lower level.

Pdw7800 rests before completeing rinse and dry cycles

It might be a glitch in the dishwasher's computer memory. Try turning off the power at the breaker box for ten seconds or so. This should clear the memory. After turning the power back on, restart the dishwasher.
