Problems charging Dell Precicion M60

I'm having problems charging my Dell Precicion M60 Notebook's battery. Until now I've only been able to charge it when the Notebook is turned off (he power adapter used to turn off when I tried charging while using the PC), but now it doesn't even charge when turned off. The power adapter is OK (I've tried another one) so I guess it is the battery, the input jack or ... something else :/

My dell latitude e5400 battery dont charge beyond 67%

Do you run your notebook plugged in all the time? I've done that and continue to but I shouldn't. Battery run items are meant to be run on battery and then have the charge run down to a low level before plugging the charger back in. By leaving the notebook running on power all the time, you are actually conditioning the battery to hold less of a charge. You reminded me of an error I make often. Something s/b done for tablet, cell phones or any item that gets recharged.

Hello, the battery on my dell vostro 1500 is fully charged, at 65% of its life and passes the dell diagnostic tool, but.. when i take out the plug the battery fails in less than 5 seconds. any help is...

Ifthe laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be wornout. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cyclesand will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up atall. ORThe battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected thebattery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. Ifthe battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to bereplaced.

AC Problems

Sounds like the DC jack is bad. That is where the AC adapter plugs into the laptop. In order to replace that, the laptop will have to be disassembled and a new DC jack will have to soldered on. One other thing to check is whether the AC adapter is still functional. Get a voltage meter, set it on 200 DC, put the positive on the inside of the plug itself, and the ground on the outside. It should read +/- 20V, usually 19.xx

New battery not charging

It is normal for a battery to degrade after a year since its a consumable part. It's just like any ordinary rechargeable battery. We have 2 points of failure that might be causing the problem. First the battery itself. Second the Charge board that charges and detects the battery. Given that the NON-DELL battery is working on other dell Computer, it simply tells us that it is the charge board that needs to be replaced wich is integrated to the motherboard. If your warranty is still active, call dell and tell them that you've tried a Known good battery and its still not charging. However, you might also consider that dell computers are designed for dell batteries. the charge board might have problems charging the third party battery since its not configured to do so.

hope this helps.

My DELL Precision M60 Laptop has problem with Power and it's Battery

sounds like you have a faulty power controller circuit, this circuit controlls both the use of mains and charging the battery and without it your laptop can do neither,  you will need to send this off for repairs. I would check your manufacturer's warranty, if it is within warranty they should fix this for free (unless you have invalidated your warranty in some way)
