1. Load the first system recovery disk into the CD-ROM drive
2. Press R for the recover console
3. Press Alt + D to bring up the command prompt*
4. at the C:\minint\system32> prompt, type "del h:\hp\bin\configcheck" (without the quotation marks) and press Enter
5. At the "Are you sure?" prompt, type "y" (without the quotation marks) and press enter
6. At the prompt, type "exit" (without the quotation marks) and press Enter
7. Press Alt + Q
8. Press Q to quit the Recovery Window (The PC will automatically begin to boot. You should now be free of the Vastly Evil Code Purple.)

*I have found that there is no need to Select "Advanced Options" prior to pressing Alt + D.

Procedure to recover from "Code Purple" WITHOUT a Recovery Disk Set:

If the Recovery Partition on your hard drive is intact, this should work:

1. Turn on PC and repeatedly press F10 (pause for a second between key presses) until the Recovery Screen comes up
7. Press Alt + Q (The PC will automatically begin to boot. You should now be free of the Vastly Evil Code Purple.)

How do i replace the battery unit in a hq7390,solder it in or replace whole plastic battery unit?

The battery is soldered in. The easiest way to fix your problem is to purchase the part linked below from shaveroutlet.com. It is a complete shaver handle with all internal parts, including battery. It is compatible with your model and all you would need to do is snap your head assembly onto it

Model 42pf94310/37 does not turn on the green power light goes on for few seconds then blink reds 7 times

I had a chat session with Phillips technical support for you and they knew nothing. However, this is a dedicated tech support unit for this monitor. This is what they gave me:

You may contact at 1-866-310-0787 and a representative with expertise in handling this unit will be glad to assist you. Hours of operation are Monday - Saturday 12.00 PM - 9.00 PM EST

As a tech expert, I would suppose those 7 blinks mean something very specific. You just need them to tell you what it is. It's located in a service manual, that neither you nor I have access to.

Fan quit working. Is it likely the board, or the fan? Currently have a Radio Shack fan mounted; it's 120v, plugged into the AUX power on the back of the unit. It's noisy, otherwise unit works and runs...

Hi, Have got and still use a Technics SA-GX910 Dolby Amp. It had an overheating problem too due to Air temp and power drain etc and the internal fan only engaged at certain volume level. Overheating was overcome by adding another internal fan.
Your unit however might need a bit more of a fix-me-up or throw it away

Try replacing the internal battery to fix the time problem. Make sure that you touch a metal part of the Tower chassis before touching any internals to avoid damage and discharge any static buildup.
