Computer doesn' t recognize iomega eGo portable

I have been using an iomega external hard drive for the last 3 or 4 months. its model is an eGo portable (250 GB). i never had problems with it until yesterday that my computer stopped recognizing it. i have read and done all what the iomega website suggestes but it seems like nothing works. the light is on and solid. i tested the usb port and it works perfectly.

A windows update may have run and killed the drivers...try rolling the system back to before the problem started, then if updates run again..and set them to download but dont install..install them yourself..run updates and see if the problem re-appears.

According to the Iomega Support web site you do not need additional drivers for using your Iomega eGo drive with Windows 7 unless you have a USB 3.0 device.

Hello,
Last time, when my Samsung mobile phone was locked by password, I also forgot the password and tried to disable the password protection functions by using the ways searched over the internet.
Maybe it may also work for your iOMega mobile phone.

Yes you can replace the port, of you can see what hard drive is in the drive and get a new external holder/card for it and use it that way. either 2.5 inch sata or 3.5 inch sata,

Iomga eGo drive data back-up for Vista need transfer to Windows 7

try to connect it to another computer that runs vista, reformatting is never a good thing. the portable hould be read on any other computer, but if you connect to another computer that have vista take it off and keep it on the other computer for a little (like someone elses computer) and put it back on to the computer with windows 7, reformat it and try to put our stuff back on then try again.

I have the eGo helium portable hard drive (compact edition, usb 2.0 500gb) i'm using it on my HP laptop...how do i get it to just backup my itunes music, videos and tv shows---do you not just drag it and...

you can cut and paste or just copy the media to the external hard drive. and copy it back if the data is ever lost from your computer, also you can have iTunes use the external hard drive to get media from. So you can free up valuable space on your pc's hard drive by just cut and pasting the iTunes folder to it.
