Hi,
You can first disconnect ur network name form router and then give a static ip in the range of the router on the wireless n/w connection of ur computer and then try to reconnect. Computer will automatically pick up the address and get u online, if problem still persists then reboot the comp once.

thanx and regards

I have just 2 computers currently connected to my Dell Power connect 2124...One is accessing the internet just fine but the other cannot acquire an ip.....I put new ends on the cable but stll no soultion

I assume you have connected your switch to any broadband router and then trying to access multiple systems at the sametime.
This is not possible if NAT (Network Address Translation) is not enabled on your broadband router.

Vista to Vista wireless, Can't share printer

So your third laptop which runs Vista cannot connect to the Printer and Dell machine?
There are some reasons for that. First check whether you have access to the Dell machine (whether you can reach it) Open a command prompt and do a ping to verify the connectivity. Example. ping 192.168.1.2 (The ip address should be the one of your dell machine. You can find it by running ipconfig in a command prompt on Dell machine.)
1. If you cannot reach it you have to check the network utility (wifi or any other method you use). Make sure that it function properly. 2. ping the router using router's ip address. If ping works you can reach up to their. So from there you can check the Lynksys management console to know why it blocks the machine entering the wlan. May be a addressing issue or authentication issue. If you cannot reach it however it might have problems with the connection as well. Make sure that you allow connections to the wlan on Toshiba Vista laptop if you use a antivirus solution with a firewall or any other firewall.
If you can reach the machine (or even if you cannot reach) you must check whether you have access to the workgroup (you have to join if you are not in the workgroup which you use) and you must enable file and print sharing. If you run the windows firewall that would block you in as well. Its better if you can check whether the print spooling service runs. Start -> Run Type in services.msc Hit enter. Check and enable the service.
If you can reach the Dell using a ping: Check whether the dell machine can access the laptop. Use my network places. It will ask you for the credentials. Provide them. If any error occurred try detecting the network. Add the machine properly to the workgroup. Enable access to the machines via file and print sharing in windows firewall. (go to the firewall go to Exceptions tab and select the File and Print sharing)
Check this Microsoft resource as well.

Please rate the answer and a testimonial (comment) if the solution helped you to solve the problem...Thanks for contacting Fixya

Trying to set up a second computer for wireless

What wireless mode is you router operating in? Does it support the cards on your other systems?

Do you have mac address control enabled?

Try disabling security temporarily to see if you can connect; your wireless connection may not be setup to authenticate properly.

Make sure that DHCP is turned on on the router. If it is, reset your router and try it without wep to check that it is working.

Check if any access list is set on router and disable it OR add your new PC MAC address to it.
Connect last PC to router using LAN cable: Be sure you can browse internet.check your subnet if you cannot.
Score this solution and let know if is fixing the issue.

Dell dimension 3000 won't see wireless network

Hi, I've jst been looking on the web at the Mimo routers, you may find this article interesting, it may help even though its a couple of years old?

http://www.behardware.com/articles/614-2/wi-fi-mimo.html

Pay attention to part about 802.11n compatibility?
Perhaps try changing the IEEE standard on the router to 802.11g in the set up pages, as it may be set at 802.11n, which your older wireless card will not see.

As to the acquiring ip address message, try using a static ip address, here's a good guide:-

http://portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm

Maybe this will help?

Acquiring network address

if you are using the dell wireless utility to manage your card, then disable it, and manage your wireless adapter through the windows network connections. that way the wpa issue will be solved by windows xp wpa. i had a similar problem with my inspiron 1525 (dell wireless 1395)
