Possibly the wrong blades, (to long and hitting each other), or installed wrong or generic blades that are defective. Or bad spindle bearings allowing blades to move and hit each other. Check the blades for dents or nicks.

hi
did you hit any rocks or stumps? if your blade hit something it will sheer a key on the flywheel and will throw the timing out all is needed is that 2 dollar key if u can take it apart a good sign when the timing is thrown out like that the rope likes to rip your arm off

When mower is cranked, the enigine spits and sputters and balck smoke comes out from the side.

Did you hit something hard with your mower; like a stump or a rock? It sounds like your timing may be off. There is a key under the flywheel that is designed to break off if you hit something so that it doesn't bend the crank shaft on your mower. If that key breaks off, your mower will go out of timing and spit, sputter and backfire when you try to start it. Best of luck to you.

Runs rough and kicks back when pull starting

The timing may be off. Has this mower ever hit anything while running. There is a small aluminum key that keeps the engine in time (flywheel to magneto) and it breaks if the mower blade hits an immovable object (rock, tree stump, meteorite etc.) The timing will be skewed and symptoms like yours will result. You can check the flywheel key by removing the cover on top of the mower and the starter/recoil unit. The key is in a slot on the top side of the crankshaft and fits a notch inside the flywheel. Look carefully. If it is sheared, the notch in the flywheel will NOT be lined up with the notch in the crankshaft and a new key will need to be installed after removing the broken one.

I hit a rock with my push lawnmower. The

Oooh boy, I know you bent the shaft, but why it is blowing oil out the carb, I don't know if I would even bother with the blade, you could go buy the same mower, then you would have some parts. Unless you just bumped it hard enough to throw oil around in there, it might settle down, but it is a long shot. I hit a stump once and bent the crank, it was lights out for that mower. Hope this helps.

My Cub Cadet i1042 tractor shuts off when the blade is engaged. This happened after I ran over a ***** and/or stump. Every time I try to engage the blade the engine shuts off.

Check for bent blade against deck housing.Possible you bent something on mowing deck, check all spindles and pulleys. You could have something hung on blade and making contact with deck. Rarely will the motor be hurt from hitting object on rider.
