Some registers have a small trigger in a hole under the drawer (between the two back feet). Flick this to open drawer. If no trigger, take the screws out of bottom of drawer and wriggle the metal base until drawer pops open.

Make sure you have flipped the switch all the way towards you to program.
Press 1 for tax rate #1. Press Tax Shift. Then put in your rate with 4 digits where 8% is 8000. Press Total.
If you want a department key to be taxable, press 001, press check, type in the price you want that department to be, and then press the department key.
If you want to make it not taxable, press 000, press check, type in the price, then press the department key.

u mean no power at all?
If yes, try to reset it. (NOTE: This method will RESET all of ur programmed data!)
1. Off power
2. Take out the AA size backup battery
3. On Power
4. The machine should show "0000000000"
5. Fix the AA battery in
6. Program the Date & Time
7. Ok
