Question about Kenmore 22422 Top Load Washer
Just bought a used Kenmore 70 Series washer and 80 Series dryer. Washer did fine on clothes until the time to drain and spin. No motor sounds, no noises at all coming from machine! This was just moved to my apt., so it was jostled a bit from the move out of one house, the drive and into mine. Please help! Don't have the money for another one or repair costs, but have lots of clothes from a recent move and 2 little ones.
DO NOT by pass a lid switch. It is installed as a designed safety feature to prevent bodily when opening the lid from moving parts. The CORRECT solution is to replace the switch. The following link explains step-by-step how to replace a lid switch:

If you have any questions about this repair, or if you require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
PS This is not a difficult repair and it doesn't cost much ($25 to $35) on average for a replacement switch. Begin, fisrt by making sure the switch isn't loose or the lid strike (if equipped) isn't broken off. You may not need parts.

Hello, Your problem is going to be with the lid switch, to confirm this trace the wires for the lid switch back to the control panel. In the control panel with a wirenut bypass the lid switch (making sure you unplug the machine before servicing) now plug back in and test...machine working good now? Replace the lid switch :) Good Luck If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Thanks for using Fixya!! Mike

I have a kenmore 70 series washer machine that won't go threw a spin cycle. It has a power and the motor sounds like it wants to work. I just don't see or hear the bin moving. What could be wrong with it and is it repairable for a simple mechanical guy to fix
