Is this a 99 Honda accord?
Just about anything can cause a miss-fire, check fuel--spark--compression.
What were the code numbers, does it point to a particular cylinder?

2000 trail blazier with random misfire, sulfur smell, glowing convertor. New cap, rotor button plugs, plug wires and convertor NO CHANGE ! ANY IDEAS ?

Is the check engine light lit ? Any DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ? What engine ? 4.3 L vortex . Leaking fuel pressure regulator under the upper intake manifold . Leaking fuel injectors ! Ignition timing problem . How does the engine run ? Who installed the plugs an wires ? are they right ? Fuel pressure leak down test, fuel injector balance testing . Check distributor drive gear an slop in the shaft . Did you have distributor out ? Is it in the proper position ? What cylinder is misfiring ? engine mechanical problem ! What do spark plugs look like ? fouled , soaked with fuel . Do a engine compression test .
The camshaft drives the distributor shaft which rotates providing a spark to the correct cylinder by way of the cap and rotor. The camshaft position sensor functions much like the crankshaft sensor previously described but provides only a 1x signal to the VCM. That is, for every 2 rotations of the crankshaft, there is 1 rotation of the camshaft. Note that the CMP sensor will not affect driveability. The sole purpose of the CMP sensor is to provide the VCM with the necessary information for the misfire DTCs.

Can catalytic converter on 98 Pontiac grand prix cause misfire on cylinders in car

No, a plugged converter would cause the engine not to breathe properly. Too much back pressure would stall the engine or make it run very poorly. It would not be local to any one cylinder-all of them would be affected.

To diagnose a misfire in one cylinder, well, you start at that cylinder. It could be ignition related- the spark plug and spark plug wire for #6, possibly the ignition coil for #6 in the coil pack for the engine. (A v-6 would have 3 coils in the coil pack, one coil for 2 cylinders.) It could also be fuel related, so the fuel injector for cylinder 6 should be considered. And the last reason for a misfire is usually the most expensive repair: low compression in #6. This may be a head gasket problem, or a piston ring problem, or one of the valves for #6 may not be sealing well, causing low compression and the resultant misfire. The engine computer codes a misfire when it senses low power output from that particular cylinder. The misfire causes a lag in crankshaft rotation, and the crankshaft position sensor senses it.

My 2000 astrovan has misfire shows code 3oo and 304

Have you cleared the codes since replacing the parts? If so, are the codes coming back? Does the misfire still exist even after replacing the parts? You post is rather unclear on this.

I have a 2000 Nissian Frontier and it had a code p0325 so we changed out the knock sensor and know we have a p0300 misfire. We changed rotator button, distrulider cap, wires and plugs. The code comes back...

Believe it or not in about 80 percent of multiple misfire codes it has nothing to do with the plugs, cap and rotor. In my experience I have found that most of them seem to be fuel related problems such as a bad injector. You didn't mention what engine size you had so I just went to the first engine which was the 2.4 liter but the basic procedures are the same. Below is a step by step testing procedures for your code right from the factory service manual. I didn't put the steps dealing with the plugs and such since those have been replaced. In any case those steps begin all the way at number 9 so there are many other causes to check before even going to the plugs and such. If you need the steps for a 3.3 or the rest of the steps for the 2.4 you can email me at [email protected] with all your information and I will be happy to email you the information. There are further steps to check such as the O2 sensors and the mass airflow sensors but since you were not getting codes for those I didn't put the tests in there but it is possible that this could cause the misfire codes. I hope this helps and good luck.

2001 Mazda Milleniacheck engine light came on. .car is running rough and hesitates while moving. codes says misfire on cylinder 6. Had tune up. put in new distrutor cap. Still drives really bad. . ....

check all spark plug wires and replace. age and wear and tear will cause them to crack and therefore create the misfire in your cylinder causing the engine to run rough

Check engine light starts blinking going up a incline

You have a cylinder misfire. That is the only thing that will flash the check engine light. With the van running spray the plug wires with water. Watch and listen for arcing. If there is, replace that or all the wires. It is possible for new wires to be bad. Next check the cap and rotor buy spraying them with water, than removing and looking inside for signs of burning or anything that will hinder the spark. Last check the spark plugs for carbon tracking (small black lines in the porcelin), caused buy hair line cracks. If you dont find any thing, check it again. With no other codes it is very unlikley that anything else is causing the misfire.
