No volume on all left side speakers

Determining the Cause of the Problem Let's assume our system has a head unit, a crossover, a two channel amplifier and two door speakers with only the right speaker working (the left speaker is not working). If the door speakers are behind the door panels then we want to make sure the speaker is the problem before removing the panel. We'll work backwards starting with the amplifier and ending at the head unit. Testing for a Speaker Problem With the vehicle and the stereo turned off disconnect the speaker wires for both the left and right speakers at the amplifier. Now connect the left speaker to the right amplifier output (which we know works). Turn on the stereo system and make sure the balance is set to the middle position. If the speaker still doesn't work then the problem is somewhere between the amplifier and the speaker Testing for an Amplifier Problem Now we'll need to see if the amplifier channel is bad. Put the left speaker back on the left amplifier channel and the right speaker on the right amplifier channel. This returns the speaker wiring to its original configuration. Again, with the vehicle and stereo off unplug the RCA cables from the amplifier's input and switch them so the left cable is in the right input and vice versa. Turn on the stereo system. Testing for an RCA Cable Problem For any intermediate components between the amplifier and the head unit follow these steps for each one. We only have a crossover so we'll just do this once. Begin by testing the RCA cables between the intermediate component and the amplifier. Unplug both RCA cables from the intermediate component's output. Now plug the working channel's RCA cable into the non-working side of the crossover. In our case the working channel is the right so plug the right RCA cable from the amplifier into the left side of the crossover. Turn on the stereo system.
If the right channel continues to work then you know the problem is in the RCA cables between the amp and the crossover. esting for a Crossover or Equalizer Problem At the input of the intermediate component (in our case the crossover) flip the RCA cables around (left to right input and vice versa). Turn on the stereo system.
If the right channel continues to work and the left channel continues to not work then you know the problem is in the intermediate component. Replace or repair this component.
If the problem is now in the right speaker and the left speaker works then the problem lies before the crossover. Turn off the stereo system and return the RCA cables to their normal places.
Testing for a Head Unit or RCA Cable Problem Pull out the head unit from the dash so you can access the RCA cables. Unplug both RCA cables from the head unit. Do not disconnect any other wiring. Plug the right RCA cable into the left channel of the head unit. Turn on the stereo system.

How do i wire the crossover on the dxd210/213

If the crossover is made to accept speaker level input from amp then.....Amp/head spkr output + to crossover + input. Amp/head spkr output - to crossover - input. Crossover midbass + out to midbass spkr + input. Crossover midbass - out to midbass spkr - input. Crossover vari-tweeter + out to tweeter spkr + input. Crossover vari-tweeter -3 or -0 or -6 out to tweeter spkr - input. You have to choose for your preference. 0db makes the tweeter respond normally. -3db mean 3db lower in volume...and -6 means 6db lower in volume. Choose based on your liking.

RIGHT SPEAKER IS DISTORTED EVEN AT LOW VOLUME.

Either a bad crossover network component usually a capacitor, OR it is the Voice Coil in the speaker has gone faulty and is Rubbing against the Post. replace faulty component in crossover, or get the speaker re-coned/coiled, or buy a new one.

Only voice from tweeter is coming, nothing from the mid-range and woofers. on cerwin vega v10f

bhurajiv,
Well it's a good thing that you are getting sound from the tweeter from the speaker cabinet with the problem, that eliminates one of the possible problems; your wires are connected!

If your other speaker sounds fine, the first thing to try is to swap your speaker wires with the one that sounds fine. If the problem speaker cabinet still only produces sound from the tweeter, the problem is within the speaker. If the problem goes away, the problem is from your electronics.

If the problem is within your speaker and it is still under warranty, find a authorized repair location (http://www.cerwinvega.com/service_center.php).

Problems within the speaker can only be one or more of the following: 1) The drivers not producing sound have been blown; played with either too much power and/or distortion. Distortion is created when you play your music too loud with a amp not able to reproduce what you are looking for in sound, the speaker itself can hear it before you can.
2) The speaker cabinet has a crossover inside which directs the proper sounds to the proper driver. This crossover can have components that have been broken be either #1 or from exsessive vibration.
3) There are wires inside of the speaker cabinet that have been disconnected. This can happen over time or if someone reaches inside of the cabinet through the port and pulls on the wires; like a young child or pet such as cats.

If the drivers in question just one day stopped producing sound, start with the easiest solution, #3 then #1 if you can suspect anyone could have played your speakers other than you.

To diagnose the problem, you first start by removing the woofer and confirm that all of the wires are connected and in good condition. While the woofer is removed, to eliminate that there is a problem with the speakers, temporarily connect the mid-range and woofer, one at a time, directly to the wire coming from your electontics, if they produce sound the problem is within the crossover network, if they do not produce sound, the problem is with the driver itself. Replacement parts should only be purchased directly from Cerwin Vega directly (http://www.cerwinvega.com/contact_us.php)

I have a 04 silverado do i need to install my component speakers in series or can i hook up woofer to factory wing and tweeter seperate from factory

With component speakers it is imperative that both the speakers be hooked up to the supplied crossover. Wiring them in series or parallel will not yeild satisfactory results since the woofer requires lower freequency then the tweeter, which plays the high notes.

Now some cheaper speakers do not use crossovers and sound rather poor. What make and model of speaker are installing? Does you truck already have component speakers in it?

Cheers,

KLH Rave-12 speakers - some drivers are not working

If you place an ohm meter across the capacitors, the ohms should slowly drop as the capacitor charges. You can check continuity of the coils with continuity function of the multi tester.
Madisound.com is a good source for quality components.

No sound out of tweeters, highs out of woofers?

it does sound like you shorted out your crossover which can be fixed if you know what you are doing, but in the long run i would try to get another one i know that raidoshack sells some small ones and is also cheap, if your positive that you didnt short out the crossover se if it needs power, see if you can cross your woffers and tweeters on the crossover, if not is there any settings that u can change on the crossover? hope i helped :)

The tweeters in my yamaha NS-515F have blown. Any ideas where i can purchase suitable replacements?

http://www.partsexpress.com is a popular source for loudspeaker components.

Also, are you sure the tweeter's blown, and not a crossover component?

www.mouser.com carries many electronic components that could be used in crossovers.
