Question about Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 (68C-00001) Webcam

1 Answer

Annoying I got the same similar problem too, it just keeps popping up that it's a USB20 camera and it doesn't say it's a Lifecam. Even installing it correctly - installing and then plugging camera in when told to - doesn't fix this. Telling Microsoft your CD has the drivers also doesn't work. I've also tried downloading the most up-to-date drivers from Microsoft, thinking this could/would solve it, but no, it doesn't. There must be some reason why it's picking up as a USB20 camera...

After I install the software and the dialog pops up to plug in the camera, I do so. The camera isn't recognised by the software at all, but a dialog pops up asking to install "USB20 Camera" not the "Lifecam".

I'm using Windows Vista x64 Home Premium.

In order to adjust your audio and video settings, please follow the steps given below:
1. Click the Audio and Video Settings button directly below the My Buddy or My Camera window. If you are currently participating in an AOL Live Video IM session, a message will display: You must disconnect the current AOL Live Video IM conversation before running setup. Would you like to disconnect now? Click the Yes button.
2. The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working properly. Follow the on-screen prompts.
Notes:
· The first time you use AOL Live Video IM, a message will display: Would you like to first check your audio and video settings? Click the Yes button. The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working properly. Follow the on-screen prompts.

Hope this helps. Bud

How to get rid of Microsoft LifeCam pop-up

Here is the SOLUTION to rid yourself once and for all, of those Microsoft lifecam pop-ups
Step 1:
Go to
C:/program files/Microsoft LifeCam (if you didn’t understand that, read the next few lines)

Open “My Computer” then click on “Local Disk C” (or whatever your main hard disk is called)
then click on “program files” then “Microsoft LifeCam”
Step 2:
Create a new folder called “pop-up”
Step 3:
Drag the file called “LifeExp” into the folder called “pop-up”
And THAT should solve the problem.

Driver not recognised

Usually, I have seen with most USB webcam, they want you to only plug in your webcam after the software ask you to plug in the webcam. If this is the case, uninstall and reinstall (but, do not plug in webcam until the software tells you to).
