Question about Dell 1600n All-In-One Laser Printer
I am a mac user and have a Dell laser MFP 1600n. I'm using an airport extreme wireless set up to print and have no problems printing. I can't get it to scan..... I haven't loaded any software. Can you help?
That's because you can't scan over wireless. In order to scan, you need to be connected via USB, so I hope you've got a MacBook...

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: Driver for mac OS for Dell 1600n
the Dell 1600n is indeed a re-branded Xerox PE120. I did a search on
that model and "OS X" and found the appropriate driver on the Xerox
website. Loaded it and it works like a charm.

I removed any printer configurations for this printer in both my pc and my mac (both usb and wireless). Then I restarted both computers and added the printer via usb again to each. At that point I went back to the extreme configuration and under the printers tab it was finally seeing Hewlett Packard Laserjet 1020. After that, adding via Bonjour went smoothly on both platforms.

I have a new macbook pro OS 10.5 and installed a new HP L7590 all in one printer. Same problem. Called Apple and they confirmed that they do not have a driver for the Airport Express to allow scanning wireless. Therefore, SOL. If want to scan, then have to unplug from APE and plug into laptop. My solution is to use a USB hub and mount close to desktop so I can easily remove my HP and connect to laptop to scan often (or buy a cheap flatbed). GARY

When you lift the scanner lid look to the left bottom. you should see a green slider button. If you stick your hand in the output tray and get it rigth under the green slider you will find a lever. Move that thing backwards or forwards, that is your unlocker.
