Disassemble a Makita 6980FDWDE Impact driver

I'm trying to disassemble a Makita 6980FDWDE impact driver. It does not have the 4 screws holding the front housing. The schematic appears to show the housing to have internal threads but I can't get the it to come off. What do I need to do?

For de assembling you first have to open the hammer case .the hammer case is fastened on the thin plate visible from the out side in anti clock thread .
so to open it first secure the thin plate in a vice and the using a wrench or universal channel lock turnr the hammer case counter clock wise to unscrew it . once the hammer case is removed you can see the four screws holding the thin plate which is the internal gear case with the plastic body, wicked isnt it , any ways it will solve your problum.

When I press the power switch it starts to work at maximum rpm

The variable speed function is controlled by the switch. On rare occasions you can remove the switch, spray it with electronics cleaner and blow it out well to get it to work again. Usually you have to replace the switch. The switch for your impact driver is Makita part number 638326-6 and runs about $65.

The screw point got stuck inside of the makita

Low quality steel drill bits get stuck in the Makita because the hammer impact squashes the metal, forming a ridge that gets snagged on the anvil's steel ball bearing. Use only impact drill bits.

How to pull apart makita 6980 impact wrench

the battery is removed. remove all screws around the outside of the drill/driver. the side comes off. the motor is a johnson motor connected to the planetary drive and hammer/anvil assembly. the motor drive extends inside the anvil via one gear off the motor. the hammer and anvil come out as one piece. if you depress the center of theanvil with an arbor press, two ball bearings come out and the escapment comes out with the spring. now you can clean the inside of the hammer and gears of the hammer drive.

Makita 12v impact driver- no reverse

I would suggest that you go to Makitatools.com and type in your model number and look at the breakdown for complete disassembly procedures. The only problem it could be it the tab on the switch or the shift lever is broken I would have to think it is the switch. Let me know if I can help more.

Can't get the keyless chuck off cordless Makita 6095D drill.

If this is a newer tool it is probably a Torx drive screw usually a T20. The screw is LH thread and after removing it you will need to put some screws back in tool to remove the chuck. First shift the gear selector to the low setting and the clutch to the drill only. Next get a bent handle allen wrench about the capacity of the chuck install the short end of wrench in chuck and tighten. Put the chuck on a block or wood or a workbench to support is and turn the wrench to about a 30 degree angle in the counterclockwise position. The chuck has standard threads so you want to hit the wrench with a hammer to loosen it. This might take a few tries but it will work. Good luck

Can't separate case to replace broken switch

Have you removed the front housing? It has 4 screws that go into the handle halves and must be removed. As far as internal clips there are none. If you removed the front sometimes the handles stick together and you have to hold each piece and gently pull apart. Hope this helps
