Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Hi expert the problem i have come accross is when i start the split system 2.5hp the unit will run then the compressor will run for a few seconds then compressor cuts out and indoor turns off as well. I am an electrician and a ac installer but not a ac mechanic, its got a charge of about 200kpa I then managed to get it to 250kpa once it cut out again it was sending my scales to near 800kpa so I ended the charging process the next time it kicked ,then disconnected my hoses. So what could this be (a) low charge (b) compressor about to die (c)fault protection relay need replacing. A low charge causing this will mean the purchase of a reclaim/charge unit. please give me a simple fix.

Hi

This is not the low charge as the unit is gettin charge of about 200kpa. I believe its the compressor thats about to die as usually the clicking sound comes from the compressor when its about to die or is bad. You can first try to replace the fault protection relay if still it gives the same issue then unfortunately you will need to replace the compressor.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

3 split units run from one compressor one is not cooling

If there is 3 indoor units from one condensing unit
(6 pipes at outdoor unit) this is classed as a multi unit

All units will run correctly as long as they all require same mode, cooling or heating, if one unit decides to heat it will shut down until master unit decides to heat then it will start, for each unit to individually heat and cool there would have to be 3 pipes to each indoor,

What is error code H4

Hi don the error code is a system overload. There are a lot of things that could be causing this temperature short circuit. Inwould take the cover of the unit and see if you can visually see any maybe dust or debri on any condenser coils or fans. If you can't figure it out call an expert.
Here is a link to the manual for your system

Wiring diagram for starting a stock up compressor

I assume you mean a stuck compressor. Sometimes an a/c unit sitting all winter will have a stuck compressor. Open the cover on the compressor to expose the terminals and switch the start and run wires. Turn the power on for a second and then switch the wires back to normal. Turn the unit on and see if the compressor starts. you can also add a start assist device which will help in low voltage conditions or if you have a tight compressor.

I have an lg split system airconditioner. The unit starts up fine and runs for a few minutes. After a few minutes it trips the circuit breaker. Could you tell me what causes this? Thank you

Sounds like an electrical problem.. or the compressor is beginning to fail. Check the wiring connections on top of the compressor for burning etc ... If OK, the compressor may be shorted out.
Make sure the power has been switched OFF before any testing is done.. Usually an LG will show a fault code on the display on the internal unit but a dead short on the comp will happen to fast for this to occur. One way to isolate a compressor fault is to disconnect it.. If the unit runs ( fans etc) with the comp disconnected and does not trip the breaker , then you have narrowed down what the fault is.

Hi, i need to disconnect a DeLonghi split system, type DEFS 71 EXU. I need to know how to pull the refrigerant back into the out door unit. any help would be greatly appriciated.

Pump down the gas.: Start the unit let it run for 5 minutes after compressor start working. In out door unit first close completely liquid line valve (Discharge line) and after 5 seconds switch of your unit ( Most important). Now close suction valve. Pump down completed. Helpful?

Outdoor A/C unit fan

If the fan and compressor are shutting off. its possible its cycling on a low pressure switch. probably low on freon.

or you have a low ambient kit to keep pressures up during low outdoor temps while ac is running just the fan will shut off, however thats not a typical thing to have a residential system

Hisense air conditioner

-If both compressor and fan motor starts and stop, thermostat is the defect.
- If only the compressor check for your outlet no sign of discoloration, check the voltage if normal, check the defective overload protector of the compressor it its external, or compressor itself is defective
