SOURCE: NETWORK INSTALLATION PROBLEM

Hello ZIMKHAN

Please, correct me if I am wrong. Do you mean that you believe there is an IP conflict or IP assignment issue w/ your PP9100 N?

If the IP address of the printer keeps changing then it is most likely not remaining powered on all the time AND it is configured for "dynamic" IP assignment by your router (as opposed to a "static" (unchanging) IP address).

This can be remedied by assigning a static IP address to your printer (or the print server device it is connected to). This is usually done at the control panel of your printer or through the print server device software.

If you are not in a Domain or "larger network", the IP address of the printer or print server device should be w/in the same subnet as the rest of the nodes on your LAN.

I have a few questions for you:

(01) Is your printer connected to a "print server" or are you using its on-board Ethernet port?

This printer model is "network ready". That is what the "N" stands for in the printer model number. I would like to make sure that you are using the printer's Ethernet connection and not a print server device.

(02) Is the "Crown Port+" you referred to your router?

(03) Please, provide the manufacturer and model number of your router.

(04) Please, provide the manufacturer and model number of the "Crown Port+" device you referred to (if it is different than your router).

(05) If you are not using the printer's Ethernet port but are using a print server device instead, please, provide us w/ the manufacturer and model number of that device.

Please, click on THIS link. You will find the documentation that is available for this printer on this web site.

Please, download the Installation Guide (document name: 9100g_e.pdf) and refer to page 52 for instructions on setting up your printer for networking in a "Windows" environment.

This, of course, is assuming that yours is a "Windows" networking environment. If it is not, please, let us know what operating systems are installed on the computers w/in your LAN.

SOURCE: d-link cant accesed internet 4pc

Most of DSL modems are connected to PC with USB cable...
n if ur server is connected with other pc on lan .. you can use internet sharing option available in winxp.

Following are the steps to enable Internetsharing for other pcs.

How to use Internet Connection Sharing loadTOCNode(2, 'summary'); To use Internet Connection Sharing to share your Internet connection, the host computer must have one network adapter that is configured to connect to the internal network, and one network adapter or modem that is configured to connect to the Internet.

On the host computer loadTOCNode(3, 'summary'); On the host computer, follow these steps to share the Internet connection:

  1. Log on to the host computer as Administrator or as Owner.
  2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Click Network and Internet Connections.
  4. Click Network Connections.
  5. Right-click the connection that you use to connect to the Internet. For example, if you connect to the Internet by using a modem, right-click the connection that you want under Dial-up.
  6. Click Properties.
  7. Click the Advanced tab.
  8. Under Internet Connection Sharing, select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box.
  9. If you are sharing a dial-up Internet connection, select the Establish a dial-up connection whenever a computer on my network attempts to access the Internet check box if you want to permit your computer to automatically connect to the Internet.
  10. Click OK. You receive the following message: When Internet Connection Sharing is enabled, your LAN adapter will be set to use IP
address 192.168.0.1. Your computer may lose connectivity with other computers on
your network. If these other computers have static IP addresses, it is a good idea to set them
to obtain their IP addresses automatically. Are you sure you want to enable Internet
    Connection Sharing?
  11. Click Yes.
The connection to the Internet is shared to other computers on the local area network (LAN). The network adapter that is connected to the LAN is configured with a static IP address of 192.168.0.1 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

let me know if it helps.

best regards,

Hi,I want to download skpe, but the same site is prohibited by the internet provider (in Kuwait). So I opened the site through other proxy site & set up file was downloaded. While running the software...

If the installation causes a tab to open in your regular browser then it sounds like the easiest and only way is to get Firefox browser if you don't have it yet. This is just like Internet Explorer or Google Chrome, it is found free on the internet at firefox.com or just google for it. Install firefox and make sure you make it your default browser. Then google for the firefox app called FoxyProxy and install that onto the browser. Now go to http://www.samair.ru/proxy/ip-address-01.htm and choose a proxy like for example: 109.235.49.111:80 In the FoxyProxy app, make click on "Add New Proxy" and for IP Address put all the numbers up until the colon(109.235.49.111) and in the Port put what's after the colon(80). Now press ok and in the Mode area make it use this new IP for all URL's. Now you should be free to do whatever. If it doesn't work, then try a different IP address from the site.

What are the static ip for leased lines

You have not provided enough information to answer this definatively. However, one possible answer exists, if this relates to leased lines from a service provider or telephone company. Leased lines involve a physical connection and a network layer logical connection. At the physical layer, there are no assigned IP addresses, just devices that transform analog to digital signals (and vice versa).. The installation person should have checked signal conductivity as part of the service. The next layer up (TCP/IP), has IP addresses, either given to you on some paperwork, or via dynamic IP Address assignment request. If the service promises a static IP address, then your paperwork (for example, setup instructions) contains any access authentication (required); a group of 4 or 6 numbers, separated by periods; and at least a 2nd set of 4/6 numbers designated as your default route IP. Otherwise, you may have to turn on DHCP and let your external router port retrieve your assigned (static) IP address from the network device at the other end of your network connection. The returned IP address is your assigned static IP address. Just make sure it is not 10.x.x.x, or 127.0.x.x, or 192.168.x.x. Those address ranges are not routable in the larger Internet space.

How can i make my HP printer wireless?

Make sure your Computer have wirelesscapabilities in order to connect to the HP wireless printer. This is how to doit. 1. Insert the CD that comes withthe wireless HP printer into any computer that will use the printer. This willallow to setup the initial software and allow you to configure the initialnetwork settings. 2. Choose where to install thesoftware and which components of the software to install. Typical componentsfor HP printers include the network utility and project creation software. Ifyou already have software for project creation, you don't need to install this. You won't need to install either component for other computers in order to usethe printer. 3. Turn on the HP printer whenprompted. Don't connect it to a computer unless directed by the software. Ifthe printer isn't recognized by the software, you may be asked to temporarilyconnect it via a provided USB cable. 4. Choose a printer name and an IPaddress. The IP address can be dynamic or you can create a static IP address. For larger networks, dedicate a static IP address or allow the HP software tochoose a static IP for you to prevent conflicts on your network. 5. Press "Continue" tocomplete the wireless HP printer installation. The entire process can take upto 30 minutes if you install all software components. 6. Where is my printer IP address

The printer IP address is something you have to add. You can go to Xerox.com and go to support, type in your model number and then to support again.
Then enter IP in the search box and it will tell you step by step how to set it up.
You can set the printer up with a USB cable and it will skip that all together.
The reason it is asking you for the IP address is so it can find the printer and automatically add it.
If you need help. e-mail me at rak458@aol.com I will try and help you that way.

HP Officejet printer

i assume that your printer is connected to a network. if so, it could be that the printer is set to use dhcp for the ip address. and if that's the case, it's better to set the printer to use static ip address since there would come a time that the dhcp server (a router most of the time) would provide another ip addresses to all the devices connected to it. that could be the reason why you are getting a "no connection" message (disconnecting and reconnecting it at times would solve the problem temporarily).

here are the steps on how to set static ip on the printer using a windows computer.(Note: the installation cd can automatically assign a static IP address as long as the printer does not obtain a dynamic (dhcp) address)

- boot up your computer the normal way so it'll get an ip address from your dhcp server
- then turn off your dhcp server so that the printer will not get any ip address via dhcp
- reset the printer to set its factory default configuration (with no dhcp address)
* unplug the printer from the power
* plug the power cord back in while holding in the printer’s
report button (it will try to find a dhcp server; after about three
minutes of no dhcp response, the printer will default to a static ip address of 192.0.0.192

- then print a configuration page to confirm that the ip address of the printer is set to 192.0.0.192

- then press the report button (wait until IP address is 192.0.0.192 before proceeding. if it remains set to 0.0.0.0, check the network cable connection to the printer and to the network is secure. If some other address appears repeat steps 3 and 4 until the default address appears
- you can now start the software installation cd

*during the installtion, follow these steps:
- select the model of the printer that you are using which is hp officejet before clicking on "next"
- then select "do network settings for me, then press "next
*follow the instructions on the remaining install screens
- the software will pick an ip address in the private 169.254.x.x range (not available on the open Internet) and permanently assign it to the printer. it will also set up a static route to that address in the computer’s printer configuration
- turn the dhcp server back on by turning on the dhcp server by
connecting your cable/dsl modem or dhcp to the network. because the hp now has a permanent static ip address, it will
no longer try to use dhcp server to get an address
- install the software on the other computers on the network who will be using the printer. the installation software will discover the hp printer at the 169.254.x.x address, and will add the static IP address in each computer’s printer configuration

Note: if the installation cd will permit you to change th private ip address from 169.24.x.x, it's better to set it on the same range as of the ip address given by your dhcp server (for example your dhcp server provides ip addresses starting from 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.250, set the printer's ip address to 192.168.1.59-below or any ip address that will not compromise any ip addresses that were already being used by your other devices)

hope this'll help you but if you'll have other concerns just ask me.

ciao!

Software for pixma iP 1700 printer

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/

Copy & paste Canon's URL I've provided here. They have the software available as a download. Click on the "Downloads" drop down menu you'll see near the top right. Select "Consumer" where you'll see 3 selection menus.1st select "printers", 2nd select "Pixma iP series" then select your printers' model number. Hit the Go button & that will take you to the page to select your computers' operating system.

1 tip. Determine where you want the software to be downloaded onto your computer prior to the actual download. Depending on what I plan to do with a download, I'll either send it the desktop or "my documents" folder. Specifying the location this way makes it much easier to find the file to start the installation process.

Once the OS is selected you'll see a red highlighted .exe link.Click on that & you'll have usual disclaimer statement & then save it to your computer.

Good luck.
