Big Screen Projection receiver TV vertical pincushion problem

I have this old Mitsubishi VS-50VA2 Big Screen tv that i picked up today. The top and bottom sides have that pincushion effect, where it bends up in the middle of the screen on the bottom and vice versa on the top. Now, i took the shell off, but i dont know what to do. I was looking around the web, and it seems that a ''failing 'lytic cap'' may be the problem? also, the screen goes black randomly once in a while...ive got a lotta experience soldering and stuff, so if you can walk me thru it, i can do it. I just wish i had a service manual...thanks.

Vertical picture problems on my 1993 mitsubishi vs-50va2

Can you provide a more detailed description of the vertical problem you are seeing? There are a number of defective parts that can cause different symptoms. Few vertical problems are adjustments. Most are either poor solder connections or defective parts. The parts cost should be minimal.

Please confirm you model number here and try to provide more details on the problem.

Thanks,
Dan

Mitsubishi VS-45607 45" Big Screen

Good Day, Delano1981;

It may cure the problem but I would suspect the 9 Volt source
CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND
IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH
ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB.

This should resolve your TV"s condition.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

This symptom is typical of the infamous PIP module with the leaky
electrolytics. If the corrosion has not become so bad that the board is
unrepairable, you can change all of the surface mount caps and clean up the corrosion

Convergence Problem?

Convergence problems are what you have possibly a pincushion error. Either way if you have to have a repair shop do the repair, you should look at replacing the old TV.
