Im trying resore my acer back to factory settings

Did you press 5 times

If you do NOT have a copy of this disc, skip to step 3 for further instructions. Once you restart your computer, a screen will appear with the words. Press Any Key to Boot From CD. Once you press a key, a screen will come up containing instructions to format your hard drive and restore the original factory settings. Follow the on-screen prompts to finish the installation. Once the restore is complete, remove your Recovery CD from the disk drive so that your computer does not try to boot from the CD again. Restart your computer to complete the restore. 3. If you do not have a System Restore disk, then your computer should have a recovery partition on your hard drive, separate from the main partition of the disk. Unplug all external devices and restart your computer. When the loading screen comes on with the Windows logo, press Alt+F10 together five times. This will bring up the system restore menu. Follow the on-screen prompts to restore your computer back to the factory settings Hope this helps.

Emachine E527 won't boot?

From the description your hard drive needs to be replaced, remove hardware and reseat it back in place, sometimes this will restart it. If this fails! have the hard drive tested before replacement.

Fujitsu N6420 upgraded to Windows 7 Professional. Ran fine for a month or so until it hung in middle of automatic Windows update. Now can not boot from hard drive or CD--gets to Windows logo splash screen...

If you still have the install disk you can put that in, hold F12 as the computer is booting up, and choose to boot from CD. The setup disk has a repair option that might fix the problem.

Laptop won't boot.

if the hard drive is suspect, then you should be able to boot from a windows cd if you have one, usually you can do this by hitting F11 or F12 dependent on laptop type to boot from CD/DVD Drive instead of hard disk, you can then check hard drive using chkdsk util on windows cd

Laptop wont boot...it wont load past the very first boot screen where it asks you to hit f12 for boot menu and f2 for system utilities it have the windows vista OS...is there a problem with the hard drive?...

Windows is corrupt...reload Win OS....if possible re-install Windows in a different partition say D: or E: etc (if u have more than 1 partition) and then once done let it boot from that and let Win load....take a full backup of all of your critical data to a USB pen drive....then reload Win CD in the Cd drive, switch off and switch on PC let it boot from CD and delete all partition on HD, format the disk fully and repartition the disk and load Win in C:
pls leave a feedback

The computer comes on but is frozen on Apple screen

I would try pressing f2 or f8 when first boots up, then change bios settings from first bootup device as cd rom drive, then hard disc as second drive, then place windows disc or recovery disc in pc, then reboot. and reinstall your software.

Starts round and round in circles

I have the solution for you, try this and let me know.

Im asuming its doing what is called, " The windows boot loop" or as we call it at work anyways.

Dells are known for this.

let me guess, it starts up normally, gets to the windows startup but asks you to pick between 4 different start up options like safe mode.

Do you have your original CD that came with it, or at least a windows XP CD?

You will need one.

What you do is,

1st: Bot from CD. Start the machine with the Winxp CD in the drive, hit F12 for boot options, or whatever key function it is. Do this as soon as you turn it on,

2: select " Boot from CD" and press any key when it askes if you want to boot from CD.

3: It will load like your doing a fresh install of windows. Thats alright, its normal and no it wont re-install windows at this point.

4: Once it loads, it will have some options. Pres " R" for repair.

It will go out and to the command prompt after about 5 seconds.

5: once at the command prompt, type in exactly ( CHKDSK C: /P ) Dont include the ( ) . Then press "Enter key "

6: after it runs the disk check, normally about 3 to 5 minutes, It will finishand go back to C:/

Just type ( EXIT ), Enter key, and let it reboot.

you can remove the disk now or later, shouldnt matter, It will go to the options screen like before, but just let it default to the normal startup, or hit enter.

Windows should now load fine and you shouldnt get that message at startup anymore.

WHY THIS HAPPENED?, you may be asking.

For some reason, certain Dell Hardware and software conflict, usually when you have installed some new program, or for just no reason.

Your Boot Up files get corrupt or cleared and windows needs those to start.

What you did was re-installed those windows files.

Now copy and paste into a word document and print it out in case it happens again. Not likley but it could.

This works with any computer experienceing this issue, usually, unless there is something worse going on.

You can help other now that you know how and become a hero, make sure to charge them $10 though for your time:)

Let me know if this doesnt work and we can try something else.

Good Luck.
