Question about LG WM2487H Front Load Washer

Has LG found a solution to the mold problems with

Has LG found a solution to the mold problems with the Tromm front loading washer. The drain holes in the boot clog and gets a terrible musty smell. We had a Maytag front loader 5 years ago with a similar problem and just one call and they sent out a tech with a solution kit and installed it at no cost.
When calling LG after just owning it for 3 months, we just got a run around and they say it is not their problem now but ours. They said to go to a swimming pool store and buy Whirl and clean it out. It is tough to hold the boot open with one hand and try to clean the mold and clogs with the other hand.
LG must know that there is a problem in the design by now. Is there a solution out there.

Are you using HE Detergent? Do you use fabric softener? If so, how much of either do you use for a full load? At what interval have you run the tub clean cycle since purchase?

I need to force my lg tromm to drain

My LG Tromm washer has a small door on the bottom left hand side on the front of the washer. Open the door and you will find the drain filter and a stoppered, small rubber tube. Position something to capture the washer water under the small rubber tube and pull the plug.. This will drain all the water from the washer.

The door gasket on my LG Tromm WM2377CS washer always has water trapped in it. The three tiny drain holes have been getting more and more clogged with "gunk". How to get the drain holes cleaned...

I use nylon cable (zip) ties to clean them. (Not sharp, so no danger of poking holes in the gasket) You may want to run a washer cleaner through the machine occasionally, such as Affresh or Washer Magic, or one made by Tide or Clorox.

LG tromm mold smell.

Hi

Try using bleach with hot water, run a cycle with hot water and bleach. Or spray bleach +water mixture on the seal. Run a cleaning cycle with hot water and bleach or vinegar at least once a month to reduce the growth of mold in other parts of the washer. You can also try using 1/2 a cup of Washing Soda or 4 cups of baking soda Crystals and run the machine with no clothes in it. This would remove all the debris, lint & mold growth from the drain pump and drain filter. This would clean the mold from the door seal as well. Please post back for further assistance. Hope this helps...

I have an LG Tromm wm1812cw washing machine and besides all the mold and mildew problems it has, it is now making weird sounds when it spins or rotates the load. It is intermittent and doesn't always code...

With a 10 year warranty on their direct drive washer motor, eliminating a clutch or transmission, those enerty star LG's generally preform very well. (one of my customers runs 10 loads a day, 365 days a year in his)
Sounds like the shaft may have seperated from the three spider arms which actually turn the drum. To remove, you may have to grind end of bolt off motor shaft to facilitate dissassembly. It's a rather involved process. Prevent future mold and mildew issues by cleaning out the drain filter and then using a front load washer cleaner on longest, hottest cycle with no clothes (like ahfresh or washer magic, or whirlaway hot tub cleaner, to name a few.) then use not more that one tablespoon of HE detergent and a max of a teaspoon of fabric softener (if you use it) per load, as these machines are using very little water. (when you split the tub to replace the drive spider, use a pressure washer to clean out the inside of the outer drum and the back side of the inner tub) BTW, I have not found any reason to not stick with my LG washer and dryer. My seven year old set worked many a load, and still works great.

Rubber gasket removal LG Tromm front loader

We found there is three small holes on the seal right inside the door, check to see if they are clogged with soap scum and clean them out. Run a cycle of hot water and bleach. Then, after each use, leave the door open and let it air dry and this has seem to work.

LG Tromm

Place a good level on the top of the machine where it is flat. Check front to back and side to side. Level machine exactly. Now put a load in and when it spins feel the feet for any that are not solid on the floor. Adjust the foot down until the machine stops shaking.

LG TROMM - awful smell while washer is running

Use the aafesh tablets as instructed, this will clear hoses that have developed some mold, also inspect drain at the wall, these get moldy and as machine runs, smell comes out of there as well.

Mold & Smelly in Washer

On August 29, 2007, SFMS filed a Complaint against Sears Holding Corp. involving its Kenmore HE, HE2, HE3, HE4, HE5 and other front-loading automatic washers.
