SOURCE: Monitor displays "Controls Locked"

This is a "feature" they include to prevent accidental changes to the screen setup. You should be able to unlock the OSD by pushing the Menu button and the right arrow button together for about three seconds. The message "controls unlocked" should appear. SOURCE: monitor displaying 'check signal cable'

Make sure the refresh rate is set at 60 hertz before using the new monitor also check the display settings to see if they are set to use the external display also. Yours may automaticaly do this and your partners may not. If this does not help please let me know the type of notebook and monitor. Good Luck!

SOURCE: my lg monitor has turned green

This could be a sign that the monitor is failing, but it could also be a very simple solution as well. There should be two cables that come from the back of the monitor - one is the power cord and the other goes to the back of the computer. You will want to disconnect the cable from the back of the computer and then blow out the end with the pins in it (either with a deep breath or a can of compressed air. Now connect the cable back to the computer. You may need a screwdriver to remove the cable and you definitely want to make sure the cable is screwed in after you reinsert it even if it wasn't when you removed it.

If the display still shows a green tint, perform the same steps where the cable connects into the monitor. Some displays don't allow this part of the cable to be disconnected from the monitor, so you may be unable to perform this step.

Hope this helps,

The color suddenly changed to where everything has a yellowish tint. And now the display is too wide to fit on the screen. How do I get it back to normal?

Right-click any free space on the desktop, choose properties, choose display, change the settings to 32-bit and which ever screen ratio you want.

Monitor displaying yellow tint

Try this. Worked for me immediately, including with PhotoShop

  1. Go to Color Management (in Vista, just click the Windows Orb / Start Search & type in Color Management)
  2. On Devices, select your display (repeat if you have multiple ones... at least I did). e.g., Syncmaster ....
  3. Check the box: Use my settings for this device
  4. Select any and all profiles you have and Remove them.
Check to see if that fixed it. You may need to restart. I didn't have to.

Problem with the acer al1916w

Sounds like the backlight or inverter might need replaced. It's pretty common on LCD monitors. It's best to call a local repair shop to do that unless you know what you're doing.

The LCD display needs to be replaced. It has kind-of-a dull yellow tint. I guess you tried changing the brightness, contrast, etc.
