The most likely cause for this is the defrost condensate collector tray below the evaporator is frozen over and the back panel in the back of freezer will need to be removed after disconnecting the power. Then defrost the tray and pour warm water with a mixture of Clorox in the drain to make sure the water drains to the pan below the refrigerator that is near the compressor. If you continue to have problems I will send links that may be more helpful for this problem. Sea Breeze

My Roper refrigerator has water inside it at the bottom and on lower level shelves. How can I correct this?

Hello,

That water is from the melting frost of the automatic defrost cycle. Their is drain in the freezer behind the back wall under the evaperator coil that is blocked, so instead of defrost water draining it's pooling in the freezer or in some case espically on models with the freezer on the top,the water is leaking from the freezer vents into the fresh food compartment.
The way to clear the drain is remove back plate and remove all ice build up and GENTLY make a small hole in drain through then totally flush w/warm water.
The exact location of drain is under the coil behind back freezer plate in the center

Good luck

I hope this helps

Water coming from freezer into refrigerator otherwise appears to be working ok

I will try to give you a better idea of how and why this happens. The problem is that every different model has a different way of leaking. Like a side by side if the defrost condensate drain line is blocked the water will at most leak inside freezer. With a single top freezer the water may just leak down into the fresh food section. My fridge is leaking,i know it has a clog but i never opened one, where do i start in opening the fridge through the inside of freezeror the rear of the fridge

Inside the freezer remove the back panel. At the bottom of the evaporator coil you will see a hole about a 1/2 " diameter. This is the drain if it is frozen over use warm water and then clean out the drain hose being careful not to punture a hole thru it. You can get a diagram at www.appliancehelponline.com by entering your model # into the parts search block.

Water is leaking from the ice maker. It is

Are you sure the ice maker is leaking? MOst often it is a blocked drain. The problem you are experiencing is normally a blocked evaporator drain line. Whether you have a side by side model or a top mount freezer the solution is relatively the same. Most top mount freezer models have a rear evaporator panel covering the aluminum evaporator coils. There are some instances where the evaporator coils are on the floor. These instructions are for top mount freezers where the rear freezer panel covers the evaporator coils. First of all, if there is an ice maker in your unit, this will have to be removed. Normally there are two screws which can be loosened and the body of the ice maker can be lifted off the screws leaving only a plug in harness to disconnect. Remove the harness either from the plug at the left wall or rear of the freezer and set it to the side. Next, remove all the screws securing the rear panel. Remove the rear panel exposing the aluminum evaporator coils. Be careful not to damage these coils as they contain the freon that cools your refrigerator. If you look closely underneath these coils, there will be ice from frozen defrosted water. Using a hair dryer and not a heat gun, melt all the ice and sop up the water with a towel. Now you will see a drain hole which is normally still blocked with ice. Pour hot water in this hole and sop it up. Keep doing this until you pour water down the hole and it drains into the evaporator drain pan either under or behind your refrigerator. Once you have unblocked this drain line, reassemble and plug the refrigerator back in. Set all controls to the middle settings and within 24 hours, your unit will be functioning correctly once again. I have a roper refrigerator and the top is freezing but the bottom barely get cold

Sorry it took me so long to get back to ya!
It sounds as if the return air ducts have frozen over.  the square holes your talking about are returns. so lets follow these instructions for cleaning the drain and while your at it you can def the return air at the same time.
  • Unplug refrigerator
  • unload food from freezer
  • remove icemaker if present (there are 3 screws remove the one on the bottom and loosen the 2 on top of icemaker then lift it off the 2 screws unplug from wiring harness)
  • remove 2 screws holding rear cover in place
  • move cover to the side or remove from unit altogether
  • defrost any and all ice from bottom of freezer and aluminum drain pan that is now exposed
  • flush drain hole that you will see once ice is cleared with warm water. (sometimes I use a large syringe or turkey baster to forcefully flush hot water thru the drain tube)
  • reassemble in reverse order
After doing this let me know how it turns out. Your drain may not be plugged but these instructions will get you to the returns and cleaning the drain will save you problems later on as well. Peyton

Water always inside refrigerator sometimes ice forms

LadyBlues, This is a top mount freezer. What's happening is that the drain in the freezer area is frozen over. When the unit goes into defrost, the water is running into the refrigerator area instead of going down the drain hole. You will have to remove the freezer bottom panel and then the freezer rear panel to unclog the drain hole. It will be under the evaporator in the drain tray. Use some nice hot water from the microwave and pour it into the tray until the water flows down the drain tube. This should clear up your problem. Catriver.
