Question about Apple iPod shuffle Second Gen. Silver (1 GB) MP3 Player (MA564LL/A)

Ipod nano blinks

When I connect my ipod to my pc, it powers up and I get a blinking apple on the ipod. Can't do anything to turn it off and it only stops when the battery runs down. ITunes doesn't seem to recognize the ipod. Have tried resetting by pressing menu and middle button to no avail.

I have an 8 gig nano. The day I bought it on first sync the ipod disappeared from the device list and I get a blinking apple logo on the nano screen. I can't turn it off or do anything with it. Anyone know how to fix this? I exchanged the nano and got a new one that same day. The same thing happened to the second nano. If it matters, I downloaded itunes 7.6.2 just prior to syncing. Other than the problems above, itunes seems to be working correctly (i.e., it recognizes my ipod shuffle).

I bought an Ipod shuffle 2nd generation yesterday, it charged all night and orange light was still blinking. Tried listening to songs and sometimes it would play but most times wouldn't. Took it back for exchange and same problem. Then I realized the problem is not with the USB plug or computer reoconizing ipod but in the docking itself. I applied pressure on the top side of docked Ipod and bottom of docking station and the computer recognized the Ipod. Release pressure and lose connection. The problem is that the docking station and earbuds do not connect with ipod and the fixes provided by apple doesn't address or fix this problem.

You have to reset your iPod. (Note: This is for the 3rd generation iPod Nano)

To reset iPod nano:
1 Toggle the Hold switch on and off (slide it to HOLD and then back again).
2 Press and hold the Menu and Center buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If iPod nano won’t turn on or respond

- Make sure the Hold switch isn’t set to HOLD.
- The iPod nano battery might need to be recharged. Connect iPod nano to your computer or to an Apple USB Power Adapter and let the battery recharge. Look for the lightning bolt icon on the iPod nano screen to verify that iPod nano is receiving a charge.

Not detected by pc

Sounds like either your motherboard is failing or your battery is starting to fail. If the battery is shot then the unit will not be able to properly connect with iTunes and will not be detected by iTunes. If you need additional support options or want to recycle that iPod, let me know.
