Having major problems installing windows XP

Ok i have a gigabyte GA-8ipe1000 pro G motherboard, i had a sata harddrive hooked up which was causing problems where it would just restart over and over and over and over and over again, before even getting to the desktop so i put in another ide 40 gig hard drive, and disconnected the sata harddrive, and just right now disabled sata drives in bios to try and fix the problem, but half the time durring the install of xp and its done this with 3 different 40 gig hard drives now, but half the time it will either give me a blue screen in the first part of the install where you format, or a ask admin for whatever error, if it gets past that part it will start to install fine in the normal windows install with the screen and all that but in the preparing installation part where it says now installing drivers, my screen will go black and never come back on....help cuz im about to chuck this out a window.

No its not the same type of motherboard although its still a gigabytes, but its a different one, the comp thats messed up is a dual channel ram, and i dont believe i have any more dual channel laying around right now, although the ram seems fine it reads in the bios alright, bios acts fine too and reads pretty much everytyhing so why would it be the motherboard?

Your motherboard has a bad on board hardware. Its hard to fix that eventhough you disable the function on it. Its better to buy a new motherboard.

You can try to install the windows xp in other pc as long the motherboard is the same specs of your gigabytes. Otherwise it will not work. If your windows xp was already install on your HDD, and use on your gigabytes mother board, the problem will still there. If you 2 or more ram,, Try to use 1 ram only when installing XP, Maybe you have a bad ram.

If you don't have a dual ram you have way to check the ram is working. Can you please tell me what is the messsage on your blue screen on the top. It should be differrent message everytime you install the windows xp when the screen is blue. So that i can directly point was causing the problem.

Hi, you can download a manual here:

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=1863#dl

My guess is that your have a failure in:
The hardrive because you get a blue screen
its a typical problem when windows not loading normaly
could be a bad sectors on the drive.
The ram
Or the cpu due to maybe over heating

Or the mainboad is simply have a defect.

Gigabyte have good online support. Go to their website download center and select Driver on the left hand side. You will be asked questions about your product and taken to the drivers for that motherboard. You can then choose the ones you need to reinstall.

Gigabyte Ga-K8N Pro Windows XP Installation

Download "MEMTEST86+" from the Internet.
One version boots from a diskette;
another version boots from a CD-R (that you have created).

Either way, make MEMTEST do a "full" test of the RAM in your computer -- bad RAM can cause "unpredictable" crashes.
