SOURCE: Dacor gas range igniter clicking

I have one of these ranges too. This happens to all of them. EXTREMELY annoying. The problem is probably that cleaning fluid/water/materials break the contact between the metal parts. Solution: Take a wire brush and clean the igniter tip. Also brush the removable ring and the flat burner top, as well as the ring below these (the one coming out of the stove top.) You may have to do this several times -- brush every surface near the igniter tip. Then, turn on the burner and let it burn for 10 minutes or so. Sometimes the burner will not light even though the igniter is clicking. Light it with a match and let it burn 10 minutes.

SOURCE: stove top ignition doesn't stop ticking

My Dacor cooktop had a similar problem of continuously clicking igniters. I unplugged it a couple months ago and used a piezoelectric igniter to get it started. Then I looked in the Dacor FAQ and it said to clean the ceramic igniter posts with alcohol not water. I had to scrape some gunk off a couple of the posts with a knife before cleaning with alcohol. Now it works.'

I think the igniters use electrical conductivity to detect when they need to spark, so even slight invisible contamination on the igniter insulator can confuse the sensing system. Also they all seem to fire as a group, so all of them need to be clean because if any one of them is dirty then they will all malfunction.

We have a thermador 5 burner gas range top and the pilot light seems to have gone out. The burners don't go on but we smell gas. How do we re-light it?

Most gas range tops no longer have pilot lights but use an electronic ignition (sparker) to light the burner. Normally when you turn the burner on you should here a snapping or sparking sound, at which point the burner should ignite. Here is a link to the user manual for 36" - 5 burner Thermador rangetop...maybe this will help:

By the way, in the short term you could always use a match to light the burner. JUST BE VERY CAREFUL THE YOU HAVE THE MATCH LIT AND OVER THE DESIRED BURNER BEFORE YOU TURN KNOB TO START THE BURNER!!!!

We have a belling gas hob. Intially when we turn on the control knob it gave a ticking sound even after it got ignited. then when we were turning on one burner it gave ticking sound in all burners . but...

take out the control knobs. clean the grease and food partilcles if any using hot water and dish washing liquid .if the washer under the knob is stuck, put it properly and put the control knobs back into it carefully

All cook top burners spark when any is turned on

OK, the best action is to call for service, if the unit was just installed, and purchased. This unit should be covered at this time, by the manufactures warranty, or store 30 day warranty. This repair should be free. The culprit will be a faulty spark ignition switch, and module. Testing is required. Once this switch, or(module), is replaced, the unit will operate correctly.

My ignitor on my ge cooktop keeps clicking slowly in off mode

As it relates to 5 burner gas cooktop Model Number JGP 963SEJ1SS
First - Ignite the flame then reduce the flame to between low and medium.  If the igniter continues to click, you most likely have a contact switch issue related to the problem burner.
Unplug the cook top and turn off the gas.  After the gas is turned off, disconnect the gas line.
Remove the cook top.

Unscrew and Remove ALL of the burner bases by lifting them up.  The ceramic igniters may be difficult to remove but they will come loose if worked out slowly.
Pull of the wire connected to the igniter.
Remove to cook top top plate from the base, exposing the internal gas valves and wiring.
All of the burners are wired in parallel.   Lift off and unsnap the casing of the problem igniter switch.  The repair may require something as simple as, 1- cleaning the contact strips, or 2- slightly bending the non stationary contact strip to keep it from coming in contact with the stationary contact when in the off position, or 3- replacing the switch.
Unless you comfortable and understand how electric systems and switches work, this is a job for a qualified repair person.
