Why wont my homelite string trimmer start. It has spark and gas and air.

Something could be keeping it from getting the right mix of air and gas. It could be a crack in one of the fuel lines or primer bulb. Maybe the carb needs rebuilt. I made some videos on how to do all that. I got all my parts form Home Depot, except the carb rebuild kit I got from Amazon. Hope this helps.

Homelite weed trimmer bogs down and smothers out quits running

This could be a number of things. Clogged air filter/fuel filter/carburetor/fuel tank lid breather hole, cracked fuel line or primer bulb, or clogged spark arrestor in muffler. Here's some links that will help to change the bulb, fuel cap, fuel lines, rebuild carb, replace spark arrestor, and troubleshoot.

Bulb will not prime

Bulb or fuel line could have a crack or a clog in fuel line/filter or carburetor. Here's a video on how to change the bulb and fuel lines and another video on how to clean/rebuild the carburetor.

Any special procedures to starting an old ST-175 homelite weed trimmer that has not been run on over 8 years.

the carb and fuel lines will most likely need repair, i would mix a little extra 2 stroke oil in the gas on the first run, and a few drops 2 stroke oil in the cylinder is a good idea..oh and you might want to check the spark arrester on the muffler .. jay

How to proceed starting a homelite weed trimer for the first time in over eight years.

hello sir, my machine will only start when pumping primmer bulb or squirting fluid in the carburetor than stops. the fuel line has broken off, in most small carburetors this is a ongoing problem.old fuel will crystallize when left in tank for a long time.plugging up ports, fuel lines, small screen in carburetor.fuel lines will dissolve clogging carb.this is why it will run when the choke is on creating a vacuum to where there is fuel forced in the carb to rum, also the gas will evaporate leaving the oil behind clogging up carb.the thing to do is remove carb. and clean out, replacing gaskets or fuel line if necessary.use carb cleaner to clean out carb.make sure to make note where fuel line go.the fuel filter broke off of fuel line letting debris get in carb plugging it up.the muffler is known to clog up a lot on these machines where they want run. the compression should be 60 to 120 lbs any thing below 60 is junk. when adjusting the carb screws turn in all the way than turnout 1 1/4 turns turn in slow until machine runs also you need to check for spark by removing plug and grounding against engine to check spark, ok.a new spark plug would be a good ideal too , if you are going to make these repairs use new fuel line and filter, hope this helps, any comments welcome, thank you, @@

I have a homelite weed eater(20699), and the fuel lines became detached. What line does the fuel filter go on? The line that primes the engine(with the little pump) or the other line!!

you want the filter keeping the inbound fuel clean to the bulb and the carb... the other line should be a return line to the pressure the system... So put it on the inbound to bulb and carb.

Blower will not start fuel is not getting to carb.

You may have a clogged fuel filter or a fuel line has a pin hole in it or the carburetor needs to be rebuilt. These are just a few suggestions I can offer.
Good Day.

My homelite weed wacker will only run in the choke position

Check the fuel lines for breaks/cracks. If they are o.k. then you will need to clean the carburetor. Disassemble the carb. and spray with carb. cleaner. Make sure the small screen in carb. is free of debris. Use a Den Tek Brush,(, to clean the small portals in carb. Reassemble and start.
NOTE: If your carburetor internal parts are more than 4 yrs. old, you may want to replace them. So buy a carb. kit.
