Check to see that lint or oil has not collected on the hook or needle bar. Always use a good quality sewing machine oil. A damaged needle can also be the cause of a noisy machine - insert a new needle.

I have seen it listed RRP $US199 but for $139 on Amazon. However, buying from bricks and mortar store gives you someone to go back to after purchase if you need help with your machine, something I have found I needed in the past.
you may have some lint not seen and use some canned air and try that you may need a new needle it could be bent. or even broken and a piece is still in the little tight crease in the bobbin holder.try all that first and then check your tension did it get moved by the fabric? when you wrer making the curtains?

Had the same problem as mommyb2 - it was the bobbin spindel was in the wrong position. Push bobbin spindel to the left and it works for sewing.
Have the same problem winding my first bobbin - pushed spindel to the right to engage bobbin fuction and the machine locks up and wont wind the bobbin. Irig did you bring it in for repair? I'm thinking its broke - which **** as mine is a brand new machine
