Question about Sharp PROJECTOR LAMP, Projector Lamp FOR XG-E650UB, 250 WTS, 2000 HRS => Model SPPL021
I discovered that the window curtain was blocking the fan in the back, so I truly suspect it totally overheated. After cooling down, still will not power up. I wonder if a fuse blew or if the bulb got trashed. Is there a "reset" button anywhere ?
Reset the lamp timer.
1,Connect the power cord.
2,While simultaneously holding down "menu","enter" and "down" on the projector, press "standby/On" on the projector and keep all four buttons pressed down until the lamp indicator starts blinking green.
"LAMP 0000H" is displayed, indicating that the lamp timer is reset.

are there any leds lit? if not, it may be the bimetal circuit breaker. if the unit overheats, the breaker trips to cut the heat source, and needs to be reset manually. unfortunately, the top needs to be removed. it's located on top of the lamp housing (red button). if it's not tripped and still no power, you need to replace the power supply.

Absolutely, they are designed to do so. You will need a svideo cable for video if your laptop doesn't have a parallel port for external monitor. Most projectors have svideo and parallel ports to use them as monitors. If using the external monitor option you select the alt/enter buttons to display on projector.

go to your display settings in your control panel there should be a choice for you to choose extend your desktop or duplicate your desktop. if that doesn't work also try to udate your display drivers to the most current one

Make sure your input on the projector is set correctly. Those are old projectors which take a max resolution of 800x600 ( I Think it's been about 5 years since i've seen one ) so on your pc, right click on the desktop, goto properties, settings and crank your screen's resolution right down to 800x600 or 640x480 and press the sync? button on the projector and see how you go.
