Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Toshiba 62HM196 DLP TV. The bulb blew and I replaced it. Almost immediately it began acting up. It would power up normally about 50% of the time. About half the time the lamp would not come on. As the TV attempts a restart of the lamp it will come on in later attempts sometimes and sometimes it goes through 8 restarts without success and I get the red light and have to unplug and start again. I assumed it was the new bulb but I returned it and the second new lamp is doing the same thing. When it does come on it works normally. Any suggestions?

Chris,

I had the same problem. I bought my tv at Best Buy and my warranty included a new bulb for the lamp. They only last about 2 yrs or so depending on how much you watch the tv. You can also buy replacement bulbs online that don't cost too much. BUT, you will need to replace every couple of years. The things you listed are exactly what happens when the bulb goes out. Hope this helps!

How long does a lamp/bulb of a Toshiba DLP 46HM95 46 in last?

Your bulb may be blowing because of airflow issues or power cycling issues, first does your outlet get switched off at any point in time? if so you may be killing the bulb before it cools, if you turn the set on/off alot and or restart it after off quickly this could lead to permature bulb failure, if the original lamp was not replaced with a proper lamp to match the ballast it could blow the bulb. If your tv is too near a heat vent or the airflow thru the set is not adequate it could blow the bulb.
