I have a whirlpool model MH7140XFQ and we got a guy to come and look at it and he said the Mag. tube and the circuit bars were broken. Which would be more expensive to change the broken things or just change the microwave

He is referring to the magnatron tube which is the heart of the microwave. Probably more expense than you would want to put in to it.I would recommend replacement unless it is a high end model. Hope this helps

I am not sure which part I should be buying so that I can replace it in my microwave. The roof of the microwave has been perferated due to catching fire. It seems the microwave would still heat something,...

It sounds rather like you need a new internal casing. Given that the oven would need to be almost completely dismantled, the cost will likely approach that of a new oven. You might be able to make it an insurance claim.

If you try to fix it yourself, be aware that microwaves usually have a high voltage capacitor in the magnetron circuit, and you MUST make sure this is completely discharged before handling it anytime.

I don't want to post any more information on that here, just to say you would be best off getting a cost estimate from a competent service tech.

Chances are that the high voltage circuit or possibly the magnetron tube may be defective...the fuse inside is for the whole unit..,.the magnetron tube is the device that emits the microwave may need to have a qualified person examine the unit to see what is bad inside..I don't recommend unqualified persons doing this as there are potentially FATAL voltages inside needed to power up the mag tube(around 2100VAC)...If the service man tells you it is a mag tube then you may want to look in to purchasing a new mag tubes are very expensive

I have a Whirlpool MH7140XFQ-0 Microwave and last night it stopped working with the screen showing F6. I unplugged it for over an hour and plugged it back in and it went right to F6. It tries to run if the...

"F6" on a Whirlpool microwave means you have a shorted cook relay on the control circuit board.

For model MH7140XFQ0 the control circuit board would be part number 4393919, which you can order from the Pros here for $132.23.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you unplug the keypad (as per the photo below) take out the old board, then move the new circuit board into your frame.

Some connectors on the relays may have a lock:

Otherwise, we regularly repair these boards with our $39.95 nationwide service. Details are here.
