It appears to run when turned on, lights, clock, turntable, everything, but does not heat, defrost or anything.

The heating unit in a microwave is called the Magnetron. It is similar to a large radio tube in a sense. It could be bad or some of the other components that feed it the power could be bad. Some of this area is Hi voltage so it is not an area the average person should be trying to fix. Most companies have 3 to 5 year warranties on the mag tube so you might want to look into that. It is expensive to replace. price for the Mag itself range from $70 to 150 dollars just for the part.

Sumsung MU3250W shut down

The problem is your magnetron tube is leaking RF. The mag tube comes on 2-3 seconds after you hit start, and the RF interfears with the board and shuts it down. Drop the front of the control panel down and watch, it wont happen.. Get a new mag tube put in and you'll be good to go.

Arcing issues again -- what's at fault?

It could be the mag tube, get warm soapy water and clean until spotless, now look for any exposed metal in the interior of the microwave oven, sometimes the enamel paint will peel off exposing unwanted metal, if everything checks okay you may end up having the same part replaced again.

OPENED UP DOOR - PUT GLASS CUP IN TO HEAT WATER AND IT WOULDN'T HEAT. CLOCK IS ON AND LIGHT COMES ON. COULD THIS BE A FUSE???

Chances are that the high voltage circuit or possibly the magnetron tube may be defective...the fuse inside is for the whole unit..,.the magnetron tube is the device that emits the microwave radiation...you may need to have a qualified person examine the unit to see what is bad inside..I don't recommend unqualified persons doing this as there are potentially FATAL voltages inside needed to power up the mag tube(around 2100VAC)...If the service man tells you it is a mag tube then you may want to look in to purchasing a new micro..as mag tubes are very expensive

I need to order a mag tube for my High Pointe microwave oven - where can I get one?

Here is a link for the mag tube They do not list any for the high pointe brand anywhere, but all you need to do is get the size and wattage from yours and match it to the right one on the site.

Someone put a silver cup in the microwave. It went on fire. Now it seems to short! Can this be fixed or should I buy a new one? (I'd like to do the least expensive thing!)

if its a diode or capacitor in the h.v. circuit repair it, if its the mag tube or h.v. transformer these 2 parts are cost prohibitive being anywhere from $75-$200 each depending the unit, the other 2 parts might be $10-$50 each

I have a whirlpool model MH7140XFQ and we got a guy to come and look at it and he said the Mag. tube and the circuit bars were broken. Which would be more expensive to change the broken things or just...

He is referring to the magnatron tube which is the heart of the microwave. Probably more expense than you would want to put in to it.I would recommend replacement unless it is a high end model. Hope this helps

Microwave acts normal but no longer heats

Basicaly you need to know if ot has 110 volts on the primary of the mag transformer. If you do its someting in the cap or the mag tube. If not then its in the relay or the timer.

If it just slowely started taking longer and longer to heat over months then the mag tube has gone bad.
