I have the same problem. Turned off power several times and for up to for 30 mins at a time. Carried out the child lock procedure each time to set or reset. It beeps in response but safe lock will not clear. Tried turning the knobs before or after resetting as well but nothing seems to work. Got an apple crumble waiting to go in my AEG BPE556220B :(
My son looked at it and I wasn’t pressing the time button together with the C for temperature button, so all sorted now. In case you struggle, the icons in the centre of the top panel are digital. So just press the time and temperature together for a couple of seconds. It will bleep and release
Switch oven on using the function knob (first knob on left hand side)then press and hold(for 3 to 5 seconds) the left top button right next to the display screen this should give you a chance to set the current time on the oven after setting the current time switch oven off at function knob and on agian problem should be solved
Its quite an old appliance, try www.whitegoods.co.uk you will need the serial number and model number, to order the correct parts. Also ISOLATE THE APPLIANCE BEFORE DOING ANY WORK, lift up the knob for temp control some older models have a small screw under a plastic cap, others just pull off with careful leverage. Spray the rieostate with wd40, move back and forward several times when its wet, it should begin to ease, wait until the wd40 has evaporated, then try the switch. Thermostats come in various types for cookers depending on make and model, but it should be attainable.
Hope this helps you
John
Place an oven thermostat in the oven compartment, this will give you a reference point from which you should be able to determine the various settings to set the thermostat to.
The only other option is to replace the facia panel
I had the same problem. I solved it by re-attaching a device which had come undone. On the right hand side of the burner is a rod with a metal wire attached. This was lying loose. It should be fixed to a little grey clip which is itself attached to a a piece of metal. By re-fixing the clip and the rod to the clip it solved the problem. Hope this helps. I have photos of how it should look. email [email protected] for a JPG.
If it is a digital timer and u have display, thenyou must make sure it is set to manual and not flashing auto, or the oven will not work.
If it is an anologue timer tweak the knobs until you can see a hand symbol showing this is the manual mode.
If no display of any kind, and u are sure u have a supply to oven then timer could be faulty.
Hope this helps.
U must ensure that u have a supply to the oven befor trying to alter timer.
Plz rate solution.
Thanks.
did you try setting a start and stop time with the time knobs?
i had the same problem til i set 3 hrs on the start and stop, then let it sit (after locking the door and turning the knob to clean). after it was warmed to cleaning temp, the light for cleaning came one...
It sounds like the knobs are not staying on the shaft of the control is the issue. Perhaps in removal the original fitting process, or subsequent attempts to refit the knobs, has altered the ID of the knob, rendering it unable to provide enough grab to stay seated to the shaft(as the Amico indicated). New knobs may reseat ok onto the shaft with the asistance of a hammer, but an old knob may not be able to. Since the knobs are keywayed, and rotation isnt an issue, perhaps it is time for a dab of silicone sealant to the shaft just to stop them popping off again... is what I would do :)
