My ps3 says the mode is not supported. you can only hear the audio

This sounds like a problem with the resolution on your TV. Which means that the PS3 is trying to display a resolution that your TV does not support. Try resetting the PS3 display settings by following the instructions on this link. Once done go through the display and sound setup in the PS3. The PS3 will detect what kind of TV you have and find the maximum resolution it can handle.

I want to connect my playstation 3 to my hp vs15. But after doing a little bit of research i am asked to change my display mode in order to get video from my playstation 3. hence my question is how do...

You change the video resolution at the video source, in this case, your PS3, not at the monitor. VS 15 has 1024 x 768 60Hz Maximum Resolution, so your PS3 cannot be higher.
You need to google 'how to change PS3 video resolution' If the PS3 resolution is set to high, the VS15 will display Out of range/format/video not support.

I am trying to hook up my HDMI cables on my Playstation. I follow the instructions outlined in the manual and in the actual Playstation ( I have been attempting this manually while using A/V cables)....

Ok, please connect your PS3 up using the HDMI cable, don't worry about having no display yet.

Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)

Press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it, then beep again 5 seconds later. Let go of the power button when you hear this second beep.

Wait for the PS3 display settings to be reset back to standard definition. The PS3 should now properly detect your HDMI connection and ask you if you want to switch to the maximum resolution possible from your TV.

Hope this helps

Graphic problems with Playstation 3 game

You first should look at the back of the game jewel case to see what the maximum supported resolution is. also to achieve 1080p your main video will have to be connected by an hdmi cable, if it is in fact 1080p that your game can support then you need to goto system settings on your ps3 then goto video. and make sure that highest resolution and upconverter is on and ps smoothing helps with clarity!!

The DVD play back on my playstation 3 looks worse than it did on a cheap $35 dvd player. Do I have my settings messed up?

change your video settings, make sure its only putting out the resolution that your tv supports. For example I have an LCD TV that puts out 1080p as a maximum resolution, so I went into my video settings and only checked off that resolution so that way the game is playing in its max resolution with the TV.

Try that and see what the highest resolution that your tv supports and make sure the ps3 is only putting that out. Then at that point it will look much better then your cheap $35 dvd player. :)

My consul does give me hd resolution. It says that it is on . How can I be sure I have it set up right?

if you have just an HDMI cable plugged in and your seeing video on your tv , its setup right. you cant see HD on the analog plugin and vise versa and the ps3 will use the maximum output of video based off the what the game supports and what your tv can support. if you want to test it most HD tv's will tell you the resolution its using by hitting the display button on the tv remote or just turning the tv off then on ussually shows the display

HDMI green screen

1-HDMI is available in several versions. The PLAYSTATION 3 is compatible with HDMI version 1.3 or higher, which will take full advantage of Blu-ray Disc™ high-definition video. There are also "Type A" and "Type B" connectors. The PLAYSTATION 3 uses the 19-pin Type A connector, which will allow resolutions up to 1080p.
The HDMI cable is not included with the PLAYSTATION 3. If you are using an HDMI to DVI converter, you may wish to remove this adaptor.

2- The resolution output (i.e., picture quality) of the PLAYSTATION 3 will depend on three factors:
The type of cable used and the inputs available on the TV or display monitor.
The maximum resolution the TV or display monitor can support. The PLAYSTATION 3 can output two types of resolution: HD and SD. Refer to the TV or display monitor's owner's manual to check which video modes are supported.
The maximum resolution programmed into the source material (movie or game). Refer to the software packaging for information on maximum resolution details or contact the publisher directly.

3- Try connecting with the supplied AV Cable instead of the HDMI to see if you can get a successful installation. This will help determine where the problem may be with your particular HMDI setup and/or equipment.

4- Disconnect any coaxial cables at the point closest to the television. Signals sent through coaxial cables may cause interference with the sound and picture outputted from the PLAYSTATION 3 which results in buzzing and humming noises from your display and speakers.

PS3 with no video / no audio

Try this:
Make sure the system is off. Now hold down Power Button for 8-10 seconds, until you hear the beep.
If you hear the beep, that means your video settings are reset and now you should be able to choose your input and configure it.

Ps 3 no data

Try holding the power on button down until you hear a series of beeps, each one representing your ps3 switching video modes. try this until you get a picture on your screen, then you can use the options to set it to your tv's resolution. I've seen this same problem often from people holding the button when they turn it on :3.

Hope this helps.
