No warm water , only hot or cold

We replaced a hotwater heater a few days ago. During my wash cycles we are only able to get cold or hot water. The warm cycle will only put out cold water. What is the problem?

Re: no warm water , only hot or cold

There is a mixing valve normally located (and part of) the threaded connection for the hoses on the back of the machine.
These are junk when new and fail often.
The water heater replacement may have resulted in some ‘stuff’ getting into the lines and interfering with the mixer operation.

If one source is working and the other isn't, you may have screens at both ends of the water hoses and one end is clogged.

Removing the back panel is pretty easy and the valve is normally not tough to reach and often held in place by 1 or 2 screws only, with 1/4" or 3/8" heads.

If you have a Johnstone Supply in your area, the part will cost about half as much as from GE or Sears.

Whirlpool model WTW5310VQO

i've found problems with the temp. switch on this washer part number W10184148 and it's around 40 dollars, also on the rinse cycle the washer only uses cold water.what happens when you use just the hot?i had a lady that her water would start to fill and then the water would stop and the pipes in the house would start making a banging sound.if you order the part from repair clinic and if this isn't your problem which i think it is from how you discribe it you can send the part back and get your money back for up to a year.good luck with your washer and next time you buy something and it doesn't work right get right on it

Only get cold water entering washer ... no warm or hot

1. Close hot water valve behind washer.
2. Remove hot water line from washer side and place it in the drain.
3. Open hot water valve to ensure pressure and hotwater is ok in your drain.
4. If not, problem is home related.
5. If pressure and hotwater are ok, then see if your fill valve filter is clogged where you disconnected the hotwater hose attached to the machine.. Its called a fill valve. Sometimes they get clogged.
6. If the hot water side of fill valve looks ok with no blockage, then you might be looking at a new fill valve.

Cold water will not stop filling during rinse

while the unit is filling in the warm cycle. reach behind and shut off the hot water tap.I bet the water flow stops filling, if so, you would need to change the inlet valve on the machine. You see, in warm, if the cold is not filling, you still hear the hot filling and the unit will advance. The rinse cycles are mostly "cold" only. if the valve is not opening it will not allow it to advance from the rinse section on the board.

Good luck!

Water temperature

It sounds like your water inlet valve (also known as a Mixing Valve on some washers) HOT solenoid is sticking open. When you select either a hot or cold wash cycle, separate solenoids open or close to allow only cold water to enter the washer on the cold wash cycles and hot water to enter on the hot cycles. If the hot solenoid stays open, you will have hot water mixing with your cold water during the cold cycles. The result is warm water. I would recommend you replace the water inlet valve. This is a job the average DIYer can do. Please post back with your model number and I can assist you with locating a part number and/or give you specifics on how to access the valve to replace it.

Cold water problem

more than likely that your inlet valve is faulty it needs replacing thats the more common fault for water not going into the machine
