How do I adjust tank pressure

By letting air out.

Remove the pressure regulator plasic cover (usually one screw) and there will be 2 adjustment screws. One is for "cut-in" pressure (to start the compressor when the pressure drops below the set point), the other is for "cut-out" (to stop the compressor once that set point has been reached.

Pressure switch adjustment problem...

I think I follow you... the adjuster over the large screw is used to set your tank pressure but also sets the cut-in/cut-off pressure. You have another regulator to control the pressure to and thru your hose but that doesn't insure that you won't exhaust the tanks supply and use more air than your pump can produce. It doesn't matter what pressure you set it at if your pump can't produce enough cubic feet per minute of air to keep up with your output. If your air use/output is within the pumps output, your idea will work just fine and you can set the hose regulator just below the cut-in pressure but Remember, even a little airbrush uses a lot of compressed air but sanders, grinders, sprayers and impacts use a Ton so don't try this without having somebody monitor the compressor periodically while you try it. It all depends on your air demand.

Compressor will only build pressure to 75 lbs. and won't shut off.

hi! there, the setting of your pressure switch has the ability to control the cut in and cut out of your compressor.unplug the compressor check the pressure switch by opening the cover loosening the bolt nut at the top cover you can see the four set of contactor inside crack the contactor if disengaging to the other side there should be a disengaging of contactor to cut the power supply if defective replace,if it is functioning normally.if it is not defective set this to what you want operating pressure and observe the cut out pressure several times is needed follow the pressure switch adjustment procedure.have a nice day and fix my rate, thanks a lot.

How to test a pressure sensor switch on a air compressor

Hi, W/D here.

To accurately test a switch, it has to be removed from the compressor and tested by raising the pressure and lowering it with air supplied from a known, good regulator. The trip pressures are then noted and adjusted.
The quick and dirty way of "getting close enough" is a little different. Start the compressor, and when it gets to your desired cutoff pressure, pull the plug. Adjust the HP spring untill the contacts trip out. Now, with the compressor still unplugged, drain the pressure off of the tank until you reach your desired cut in pressure, and close the valve. Adjust either the LP cut in or the differential pressure adjustment to set the cut in pressure. The contacts will pull in. If you adjust the cut in pressure with the diff pressure setting, the cut out pressure has to be challenged and set again. Whichever method you follow, you always need to check the upper and lower settings after each adjustment.
Best regards, --W/D--

High/low pressure spring settings

Generally, the pressure switch is not adjusted more than once or twice in the life of the compressor since the discharge pressure can be adjusted with pressure regulator. However the life of the compressor can be increased if lower pressure settings are maintained. Your pressure switch was set at the factory to a setting of about 120 - 150. If your cutout pressure is higher than 150 surely lower.
STEP 1: Turn Main Calibration Screw ( center screw with large spring) clockwise to increase pressure and turn counter-clockwise to decrease pressure.

STEP 2: Turn Differential Pressure Screw (small spring) clockwise to decrease cut-in pressure and
turn counter-clockwise to increase cut-in pressure.

Differential Pressure is defined as the difference between cut-out and cut-in pressure. There should be about 7 to 12 psi difference between cut-out and cut-in.
In our shop we rarely adjust more than a couple of turns because these switches are sensitive.
Good Luck and please post again if you have other concerns about your compressor.

Cant set my compressor to automatic start/stop mode

U NEED TO ADJUST THE PRESSURE SWITCH ON THE BACKUP TO A LOWER PSI. TO COME ON AFTER THE PRIMARY. EXAMPLE: PRESSURE SWITCH ON PRIMARY COMP. SET AT 140-175 PSI AND BACKUP SET AT 135-170 PSI. U CAN USUALLY TURN ONE CENTER SCREW IN THE PRESSURE SWITCH COUNTERCLOCKWISE TO LOWER THE PSI.
