SOURCE: Saturn Belt Tensioner...

You probably have a bad tensioner, you cannot tighten a bad tensioner because the bearrings inside have gone bad so your belt will just keep coming off. I had the same problem, don't wait to fix this because your car can over heat, you can lose power steering without proper belt tension. Pay the few dollars now(and I do mean few) and avoid problems later.

SOURCE: serpentine belt tensioner will not tighten

If the tensioner will not keep the belt tight then the tensioner is bad and will need to be replaced. The spring on the inside will loose it's tension over time.

SOURCE: 02 altima belt noise

OK, went through the exact same thing this week. Put on a new belt, checked for proper seating, etc, etc. and that wasn't it. Read all through this site and others and it comes down to one of two things, the tension pulley assembly or the compressor itself. Seeing as compressors ran about $300 or so and the pully assembly is less than $50 and takes about 45 min to an hour to replace, I did that first. And for me, that was it. Tip for replacing the pulley assembly? Have a wide variety of sockets (depth) and extensions.

SOURCE: drive belt not engaging. need more tension on

does the lever feel spongy when you try to engage it(not solid as it felt new)? usually this is caused by tightening the adjustment screw too far out.if so you brobally have a bad engagement lever on the transmission. the bad news is the lever is not avalible alone. you either have to bite the bullet and buy a transmission or find a junker that dosen't have the same problem.

How do you adjust the deck belt on a Toro LX 420 riding mower?

The deck belt is not adjustable, it is tightened by the number 26 spring. Spring can loose tension or the belt could be stretched.

AC Clutch noise and vibration

An A/C clutch will not make this concern happen, more likely the A/C compressor is begining to go out. The belt on the A/C clutch Assy. free wheels (spins feree on the pulley) when clutch is not engaged. If concern is not present with A/C off this means the bearings in the puley assy. ok. Once the A/C clutch is engaged it locks the compressor against the spinning pulley and turn the compressor chaft and spins the A/C compressor internal shaft. If you hear a loud "screach" when you turn on the A/C it means the belt slipped for a second, if it continiues to screach it means either the belt is loose or that the compressor is internaly locking up. I wouild start by checking the belt tension (if not equipted with and auto tensioner). You can also remove the belt and turn on the A/C and attempt to turn the clutch/pulley by hand, it should turn with a little effect but should not bind or lock at times if that happens compressor is bad.

1180 cub cadet replaced both drive belts length of belts is correct, mower still moves if foot peddle is not engaged.per manual set the adjustment of the drive pullys and the problem is still there.I have...

If you did not use the original manufacturer belts it will cause this as lawn mower belts are designed to slip when not under tension (so called graphite Belts) where other belts are designed not to slip even when some tension is lost.

Battery light turned on. Lost power steering and AC.

You broke your serpatine belt. Needs replacing. It's a $50ish part and easy to do if you have a diagram under the hood of how the belt fits. But if it was "rattling" for a couple of weeks take it in for crying out loud. Let the mechanic look it over to make sure your lack of vechile care didn't destroy anything under the hood.....
