SOURCE: subwoofer output

There could be a number of reasons causing this malfunction, try replacing the subwoofer's cord, it might be damaged, you can also try reseting the system to the factory settings according to the following instructions: Reset Instructions: 1. Press the power button to turn off the power 2. Press the power button while pressing the ENTER button. (note: this will reset all memory) Good Luck

SOURCE: Have this Bose system connected to my Yamaha a/v receiver

If you have it literally conencted the way you say not much good will happen.

The speaker OUTPUTs for the Yamaha feed the INPUTS on the Acoustimass Module then the satellites branch out of the Acoustimass Module's OUTPUTs.

Acoustimass module
Bose® recommends putting your Acoustimass module at the same end of the room as the
television monitor. To prevent interference, keep the module at least 2 feet (.6 m) from the
television.
• You may hide the Acoustimass module behind or under furniture, but do not block the
opening. Be sure there is at least 2 inches (5 cm) between the opening and any surface.
• If the opening faces the wall it increases the bass; if it faces away it decreases the bass.
For the most bass response, place the opening 2 to 3 inches (5 to 8 cm) from a wall or
corner.
• Stand the Acoustimass module vertically or horizontally (Figure 6). To stand it on the
cable connection end, remove the cover by gently pulling it away

Move the sub closer to a wall or corner to increase the bass.

This is a SYSTEM and as such is not designed to be pieced out or separated. I don't recommend that you try it that way. I doubt it will improve the sound.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the respond. Very good info - will try as you have suggested."

Cables between sources and compatible units rarely need to be physically modified.

Splicing headphone outputs designed for nominal 8-ohm impedance speakers to a 47K-ohm (typical) RCA load is not a good idea but it might work on the Sherwood because this receiver does not automatically silence your other speakers when the headphone jack is installed.

There is NO other volume-controlled output to choose. Try it.

How do I hook up the receiver to the subwoofer to the tv

Here's the Owner's manual -> https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.paradigm.com%2Fdownloads%2FOM-100.pdf.
There are many ways to connect the system depending on your receiver's outputs and the speakers. Usually, the TV L/R output connects to one of the receiver's inputs. The receiver's preamp sub output goes to the powered subwoofer. The receiver's FL/C/FR/SL/SR/RL/RR speaker outputs go to the respective speakers.

I am unable to find the owners manual for the Teac MC-DV100 SuybWoofer

For almost any set-top box, there isn't a sub-woofer output. Without that output (it would be labeled on the STB), you can't hook up a subwoofer directly to it.

HOWEVER, the model number you give isn't just a subwoofer: it's a whole sound system with a subwoofer attached to it. If you have the whole sound system, you just hook the STB's audio output to the amplifier's "Aux Input" (it might also be called "line input").

If your model doesn't have that (can't tell from the web), you'd have to buy an "AV Receiver" that has at least a 5.1 set of outputs. These start at maybe $150 new, $50 on eBay. MAKE SURE YOU BUY A RECEIVER WITH A "powered" SUBWOOFER OUTPUT!! You connect the receiver to the STB, and the subwoofer to the receiver.

Protect

The very FIRST thing to check is to make certain ALL of your speakers have an IMPEDENCE of 8 OHMS. Virtually all speakers of even modest quality will include this specification on a label on the back of the speaker. You CANNOT run more than (2) TWO speakers with 4 OHMs impedence on ANY amplifier (technical discussion too long!) [NOTE: Your unit has an internal overload protection system to prevent permanent damage. However, you cannot re-set these systems yourself. Your dealer or authorized service center must do this.] But, before you take it in for service, there is one more "test": check for shorted and/or mis-connected/disconnected speaker cables/wires. Visually inspect connections at the receiver and speakers first. You might find something obvious! If everything looks okay, then disconnect ALL of the speakers; and reconnect and test them one at a time (at relatively low volume.) For example, reconnect the left front speaker, test the system; THEN add the right front, test the system, and so on, ADDING one more speaker each time - FIRST MAKING SURE EACH OF THEM HAS AN IMPEDENCE OF AT LEAST 8 OHMS! IF there is a short (or bad speaker) this will help isolate it. Hopefully one of these "fixes" will work for you. GOOD LUCK!
