If kitchen side drains are clear then there might be some blockage in the pump system. Check the drain pump is working during drain cycle. If you can hear the pump but the water does not go away then you need to check filters at base of dishwasher. Beyond that you will have to open the pump assembly to look for debris.
Good idea to check levels yourself, but wear rubber gloves as dishwasher salt will leave your hands very sore, simply remove cover from salt tank, using a wooden spoon handle or similar check salt level and refill if required, replace tank lid, never wait for warning lights, they may never come on, good luck.
