Question about Bissell 6594 PowerForce Bagless Upright Vacuum

Unit wont turn on.

My Bissell 6596 was working fine and I turned it off to empty the canister. Now it wont turn on. The belt is intact and the brush turns freely in both directions. What could be wrong?

Might be the switch is bad ore lose connection for the wire came off the plug

I came across this site, as I was having the exact same problem. I really didn't find any helpful solutions, so I decided to just tear into the vacume myself. After all, if it won't turn on anyway, I can't really hurt it right? I removed screws until I got all the way into the motor (Which by the way is at the base of the handle, not in the bottom of the vacume. I noticed a lot of dust and dirt had gotten in there, so I cleaned it all out with some canned air. I checked all the electrical contacts to make sure everything was making good contacts and to make sure there was not a short (by way of black soot on the wiring). Finally, I came across a white rectangular shaped plug near the power cord. I took it apart, blew it out with the canned air, and put everything back together. I plugged it in, and voila! It started right up again! This is the second model of this same vacume I have bought in the past three years, and the other one did the same thing. I would not recommend anybody trying this other than a last resort, but I was about to put mine on the curb if this didn't work. Also, please make sure the unit is unplugged before pulling it apart so that you don't get electrocuted. :) Hopefully this will help somebody else who is at their wits end with this silly vacume cleaner!

Bissel 3760-4 brush motor doesn't turn on

Hi Tim. I understand the brush is turning & belt is fine. You may want to remove and reseat the canister. If this doesn't work, you'll want to have one of our Authorized Service Centers inspect your vacuum.
Here's a link to assist you in locating one in your area: http://www.bissell.com/service-centers/?cid=ccsocial

The belt on my vacuum cleaner model 6596 bissel powerforce bagless turbo keeps breaking. As soon as I put on a new belt and start it up the belt snaps. It is the durabelt meant for this vacuum model....

I would guess you aren't centering the belt correctly, thus it's edge is caught between the brush and another solid object, causing the breakage.
When you get the belt on the the brush and the brush back in place, turn the brush a few times by hand to make sure it's not catching on anything. After you get the powerhead put back together, do this again. It's a common problem if the powerhead isn't assembled correctly.

Here's a video clip from the Bissell site demonstrating changing the belt.

Brush will not spin. filters are clean, no clogs, belt is fine. remove canister, it works fine plenty of suction.

Probably a good idea to remove the brush and clean as best you can. Add some WD40 at each end by the plastic clips and turn by hand until they move freely. Reassemble being sure the belt is on properly.

Actually have model 6594. no suction. any suggestions?

If you hear the motor running and the vacuum is not sucking up debris, I would believe you have a problem with the beater brush. Problems with this brush are usually caused by 1 or 2 if not both of these problems: 1- The drive belt for the brush is broken. 2- The brush itself is frozen due to debris. Remove brush and clean all debris off. Pay special attention to end pieces of the brush that hold it in the vacuum. The brush should rotate around these two pieces. Clean ends and spray on a little WD40 and turn to work it so that the brush turns freely. If you find the brush is frozen and needs to be cleaned, probably a good idea to put a new belt on at the same time. Be sure the belt is put on correctly so the brush turns in the proper direction. Feel free to contact me if you have questions.

Anyone know why my Bissell Proheat 2X Turbo Model 9300's brushes won't turn anymore

If the Brushes don't rotate, & you have two brushes; 1). Turn unit on side. ( Make sure unit is up-pluged) 2). Rotate the front brush roller, if the second roller moves at same time, 3). Locate a small ribbed belt that goes from the further back roller, to a small ribbed pully. (Gates belt #177-3m5) ( on side under a clear cover) The belt may not be broken, but may have carpet fuzz / lint covering the belt ribs, causing the belt to slip. If that belt is OK and you find that the small pully doesn't turn the belt/rollers, the problem is with a small internal direct drive motor, that drives the brush rollers. At this point return the unit, as Bissell has a design defect & is using cheap parts.

Bissell upright vac, brush on bottom does not rotate

The front brush motor will not engage until the power is turned on and the handle is in the down position. In the upright position the brush motor wont engage. Typical faults will be the belt is broken and needs replacing or the fornt brush motor needs replacing.
