The engineers are right. Television codes are specific to a make / model of a television and can't be changed.
The easiest way to fix the dilemma is that you move the CCTV control box behind your seat, or cover the front with tin foil to block the television remote signal.

Chevrolet has stopped production of the SSR. The last model year was 2006, which was the best year (got a large HP increase). The production was ended due to what appears to be poor sales. If you still want one though, definitely get a 2006 model.
