Hello, If your igniter is glowing does not mean it's good, Take a look at it while it is glowing..Is it orange in color..Uneven glow? then it's bad...the igniter needs to be pulling 3.5 amps in order for a) the gas valve to open B) gas to ignite once gas valve opens. The glow should be a brillient yellow that you find hard to look at. If the igniter is bad the only other possibilty is the flame sensor. It is the gadget hooked to the side of the tube where the flame is. Using an ohms meter disconnect the 2 wires from the terminals and check for condinuity..If you have no reading (condinuity) you should replace it. Good Luck!!! If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Mike

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

Roper rgx5634kq2 gas dryer. Starts out lighting like it should. It runs for a minute or two then flame goes out, then after a minute it comes back on. It will do this cycle a few times and then it will...

it's not the thermal fuse, the dryer wouldn't run and the ignitor wouldn't glow.sounds like you have bad gas coils,if the dryer runs for the first 15 to 30 minutes normally and then no more flame the coils are failing, when they are bad they work until they heat up and then nothing, when they cool down they work again, common problem, also you should clean out the dryer once a year ,clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into,if your vent line is long take it off from the back of the dryer and blow it out with a leaf blower, make sure the outside vent is clear first, you can have a fire and then you can pop the thermal fuse, clean it and your clothes will dry on time, let me know what you find

I've got a Roper Gas Dryer, Model RGL4634BW2, that will run but will not heat and the timer does not advance. It will continue to run until I turn it off. I see others on here with similar problem but...

It could be a fuse to prevent the ignitor to come on.
If the ignitor comes on then turns off then the ignitor is good. However the thermal sensor could be bad not giving the signal to a solenoid to open the gas valve. Or the thermal sensor is good, but the coil is bad so it could not open the gas valve. The gas valve has to open to have continuous gas flowing to burn in order to produce the heat for your dryer. Definitely the timer is bad that was why it didn't turn off for a period of time.

I have a Roper Gas Dryer, Model #RGX5634KQ2 it runs off propane. The dryer turns on and tumbles. It lights, heat comes on for just a minute then goes out. Clothes want dry

The problem sounds like the dryer coils are failing. They tend to fail as they heat up. These are very inexpensive and easy to fix. It could be several other things thermal fuse, thermal cut out, hi limit thermostat, heat sensor,or ignitor. All of these parts are inexpensive and easy to test and replace. There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html this will walk you thru the troubleshooting of these components. It may be a different model but the troubleshooting will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations. Not all models are available. If you need help disassembling your machine there are videos of this also for most styles.

My dryer turns on and heat fires up but only stays on for about ten min then shuts off Roper rgx5634kq2

the coils may be weak and not holding the valve open for the gas or you may have a weak ignitor. the ignitor should glow white hot not orange. hope this helps.

Dryer won heat timer dosen't avance

huntman, the model posted shows as a gas dryer. In the lower left side there is a square plastic peep hole. Take a putty knife and pull it off. Set the dryer to high heat and take a look in the hole. Does the ignitor glow? If it doesn't you either have a bad thermal fuse or a bad ignitor. Start with the thermal fuse. You will have to remove the back panel to get at it. I will attach a photo. You can ohm it out, or just jump the wires temp. to see if the ignitor glows. If theral fuse is good and the ignitor does glow, you probabley have a bad set of coils. These sit on the gas valve are easy to replace. The timer won't advance without the heat. Check this out first...Catriver..post back.
