It sounds like you need a definitions update;
a "Laserjet" printer contains a long cartridge that contains a black powder and requires heat to complete the printing process.
An Ink-Jet printer has small cartridges usually 1 black & 1 multicolor cartridge that contain liquid and require no heat.

SOURCE: Noise on my printer HP psc 2410

I have experienced this problem numerous times since owning theprinter, and usually a full reset (# and 9 on power-up) has resolvedit. Not this time, however! Following Guest's advice above, I and found the solution: cleaning the glass. Thank you, Guest!

Hp psc 2410 photosmart driver win7

HP no longer provides support for drivers for this printer. The newer Windows OS will support the printer natively, but sometimes it requires a little finesse from the user. Here is a link to an HP forum where folks tell how they worked out the communications issue for the print and scanning functions. Hope this helps!

The first thing you will need to do is load the driver for that printer. You can get it HERE. After that, Vista should allow you to print.

Won't scan

You have to go to Windows Photo Gallery. Click on "File". Select "Import" and it will prompt you from there
