Trigger valve should be the problem,,but the saftey should be the first thing to look at .It should not fire unless safty guard is not working,,,check it first

My stapler will not fire it lets out a little air

This problem is usually caused by the safety foot not pushing the trigger firing pin all the way in. Easy test. Remove the nails and airline, remove the trigger to expose the trigger firing pin. Connect airline and with very quick motion depress the firing pin all the way in. If the gun fires then adjust the safety foot. If the gun does not fire, remove the head and pull out the headvalve. Lube all orings in the head with plenty of white grease. Reinstall head and test. If the gun still does not fire, time for oring kit. Good luck.

N88rh bostitch nailer fires first shot without trigger depressing

Worn orings in the gun and the trigger valve will cause the gun to fire upon connecting the air. It is a good practice to remove the nails when you remove the airline until you can replace the trigger valve. I believe that you gun uses a TVA6 valve. It should be replaced when it begins to leak or if the trigger pin seems loose and rocks from side to side. Factory valve costs about 25 dollars and aftermarket sells for about 12 to 18 dollars. Good luck

Keeps repeating itself

Most nailers have a two position setting on the trigger to allow for single fire or bump fire. If set on bump fire, the gun will work better when you bump fire the gun instead of placing the gun on the work then depress trigger. Bump fire works best when safety spring has good tension. Easy test. Make sure that the safety spring is in place (with air hose removed, contact foot should spring back quickly when pushed against work). With air connected, hold trigger and quickly bounce the gun against the work. If the gun does not fire when you bump, the trigger is most likely set to single fire. With trigger set to single fire, you must place the gun against the work, then depress trigger. If the gun shoots two nails while set to single fire, most likely worn trigger or worn out trigger valve. These parts are not expensive and are easy to replace. Good luck

I have a Bostitch N80S stick framing nailer that leaks air from the trigger area. I replaced the entire trigger valve with a new single fire trigger to see if the old bump fire trigger was the problem

Remove the nails and take off the trigger to expose the trigger valve (usually part # tva6). Connect air and spray soapy water on the valve to determine if the air is leaking from the center of the valve or around the outer edge between the body and valve. If leaking from the center, could be defective valve or debris under oring. Pop out the valve and examine internal parts for cut oring or defect. If leaking from between body, you could have cut orings installing the valve. Make sure that there are no rough edges in the body of the gun. Bump fire or single fire happens with the trigger type not the valve. Bump fire trigger is usually black metal and single fire trigger is light color plastic. Good luck

My Bostich n 80 nailer misfires / doesn't always feed round

Given your description, there are a couple of distinct issues here:

1) The gun mis-fires. This is usually due to a leak in either an Oring or the trigger itself. Both can be replaced for a reasonable cost. Follow the link below to get more information about a site that has parts breakdown diagrams and numbers.

2) The not feeding is usually caused by a lack of lubrication at the feeder area. It is also possible that dirt has accumulated here and has jammed the plunger assembly. I have successfully cleared this up in my guns by applying oil directly onto the plunger and working it a few times by hand. Please note that this should be done WITHOUT any air connected. Fire the gun a few times empty against a piece of scrap wood to test it as well.

Hope this helps,
Dan

A Bostitch F28WW that spontaneously fires a nail when coupling the air hose to the gun. The gun is 12 years old. Whats the fix required.

When was the last time this tool was serviced? Bostitch makes an Oring kit for this part #N890RK I could not find the price. I would start by looking at the safety to make sure that is moves freely and is not bent. Then I would think about putting new rubber in this tool. First go to Stanleybostitch and navigate into tools and then support to look at a breakdown for this one. It is not that difficult to rebuild, if you do make sure that you put lube on the new orings and take your time rebuilding to ensure that you dont pinch one of the new rings. Hope this helps

Stuart - this sounds like an air problem - you should perform the following test. With the air nailer close to the compressor you must monitor the airpressure after the gun fires. it sounds like the air is not gettting through diapram fast enough or there is a blockage in line. Blockage in line is not suspected for the following reason . It sounds like the air hose is holding enough air to fire 2-4 nails and then you must wait for the line to fill up again and then it fires ok. The pressure regulator out to the line controls this and they do fail. try this test and report back to me - I know I can solve this for you as I have extensive background in compressor and the like.
