Every time I go to print, I am getting the message that my MP tray is empty. I have the main tray as my default. I am wondering if this is a transfer belt problem or something else.

The MP tray referred to is the Multi Purpose tray and is located at the front of the printer. To access it, you need to find the 2 indentations at the side of the front feed assembly and pull them towards you. this then gives access to the MP tray. Don't forget to press the blue button after loading the paper. Your user guide/manual will give clear instructions and pictures. It may also be called manual feed tray. Once loaded with the correct paper press the online button and printing will start.
Its asking for you to put some paper in the tray at the side of the printer. There is a small hatch on the right hand side which will turn in to a paper tray when pulled open. Put in the paper and it will print. You will then have to disable that tray to prevent it happening again.
I would suggest checking printer properties in the computer and ensure the paper size and source is Letter and set to Automatic Choose. Another choice may be to deleted the printer driver and re-install it. You can also go into the menu options until you get to Set factory defaults, press Select, then try the print job again. I really suspect a program is controlling this from the computer. To get a list of the existing printer settings, Select Menu and use the Right Arrow button until you get to Printer Menu Settings. The printed report should tell you what your actuall settings are. Maybe the default is set to Custom, instead of Letter. The Set Factory Defaults option should fix most problems.
