Ive got a black vertical bar on 65" Panasonic Plasma, in addition there are blocks of snow/color bars on either side of the bar. Has the panel gone bad?

The X-Sustain board has the fault I presume. Just visit this site, named 'Electro-help'. This type of fault, and its repair proceedings are detailed there with illustrations. Check this link and select the site. Pull up older posts there. Sometimes, ads attached with each posts there might give you details of the components availability too.

SOURCE: There is a vertical black bar along the left side of my TV. It started as a thin yellow/white bar and has grown to be about 2 or 3 inches wide, blocking that portion of the screen.

The LCD wafer has gone bad, and more lines will begin to appear over time. It can be replaced but the cost may be comparable to replacing the entire television.
