My headlights only turn on when they want. They are brand new as of late last year. PLEASE HELP!

I have a 1999 Aurora 4.0L I have been having major issues with the headlights. I cant get the dims to turn on when needed. I can start the car and they should automatically turn on (sometimes they do) but lately they haven't. I play with the switch (for 5-35 mins) and the headlights come on when they feel like it. Another incident , I was driving down the road using my brights and dims. They were fine. Out of nowhere, I was coming up to a vehicle so I went to switch my headlights to dims, and they completely went out. I pulled over and after 20 mins of panicking and messing with the light switch, they turned on... I'm not sure what to do. It isn't a fuse, I have already checked but any ideas would be totally welcomed!

These cars were designed to have daytime running lights, that can turn off with the ebrake being pulled, so perhaps whatever wiring mechanism that enable that, is failing.

1999 oldsmobile aurora headlights go off in middle of night and sometomes alarm

It sounds like you have a malfunctioning alarm system. If it is an aftermarket system, you should simply turn it off. If it is a factory alarm it would really be best to take this to a dealer. In the mean time, to prevent battery drain, you can disconnect the black battery terminal at night when you park the car.

I have an 04 passat wagon. Tonight the headlights would not come on (only the fog lights or the brights). Had my oil changed yesterday and don't know if maybe they pulled a fuse or something? Any idea...

Your second low beam may have burned out last night (that is, you were running on one headlight for a while).

Buy a new headlight (you may have never changed the headlights on a 2004. If you have changed them in the past 3 or 4 years, my solutions is likely wrong.

How do you remove the headlight in the 1999 oldsmobile aurora , I need to change the bulb.

Remove the plastic shroud above the headlights when you open the hood. The head lights use bulbs that go in from the back, disconnect wiring connector and turn the bulb 1/4 turn to the right and it should come right out.

I have a 95 Cherokee sport and the headlight do not come on. We have checked the fuses and they appear to be good. Is there a circuit breaker for the headlight system?

Late one night on the way home from a night at a friends cabin on a lake, my headlights stopped working. So I stopped, after driving to a safe spot holding in the headlight high beam selector for emergency lights for about 15 mins. I checked all the fuses, with a tester, as well as a visual check, and they were all good, so I checked the relays by switching in some spares I have, and nothing. So I drove the last 20 minutes home holding the signal switch towards me, and went to bed cursing my luck. The next morning, bright and early on a Sunday morning, I tore into the dash, with 2 suspected broken switches in mind, and with brand new replacements next to me.

Now I am a novice mechanic, I can do almost any simple task- u joints, driveshafts ect, but this was a major-league pain in the ****. You have to take the whole dash out, and take the instrument cluster out, after taking the steering wheel off, in order to even see the back of the headlight switch. So I changed it, after cursing the Chrysler gods for putting such a simple part in such a stupid location. And on a good hunch, I also changed the signal light switch, at the same time.

Long story short, mopar/jeep/Chrysler uses very craptacular switches, so go aftermarket, unless you want to spend about 4 hours of your quality time changing switches ever year.
