Where can I order the ballast? What should I expect to pay?

  • mikey2274 Jul 23, 2009

Hmmm...I tried calling Mitsubishi and the guy I spoke with did not see that part listed for my model and said that he wouldn't be able to sell me one unless I had an account set up with them.

Just one click. Well...one when I turn it on and one immeditely afterwards. Is it going to cost me to set up an account? The guy said that the word "ballast" was not even listed as a part for that tv. I messaged a guy on ebay about a ballast that he had listed for Mitsubishi tv's, but I am not sure if it is for my model. I asked him if he had one that would fit.

No, I do not have a service manual. Do you have a link or know where I could find one? Between my dad and I, we have plenty of electronics experience and feel confident that we could find the source of the problem.

HI, you have a weak ballast. this is the power regulator for the lamp in your set. replacing the ballast will fix this issue.

Ok, due to the fact that the aftermarket sales of this particular ballast has been discontinued, you will need to contact Mitsubishi directly for this replacement part. you will need to give your unit model number to the Representative and, they will special order this for you.

    Unfortunately, it has been discontinued.

Normal retail sale price for this part will be $78.00

I see. i have it listed under your model but, its no longer available on the aftermarket. shows to be discontinued. special order recommended. all projections unit will have a ballast device to power the lamp. How many clicks are you actually hearing?

They will normally ask for you to register.

Ok, i need to change the dynamics of my solution. your set is running a optical assembly that uses CRT lamps and not filament based ones. this will change everything here. your set doesn't have a conventional ballast. the power for the bulbs are fed directly from the power board or , deflection assembly. there is a HV block and, flyback transformer that is damaged on this assembly that will need to be replaced.

I recommend preforming a diagnostic test at this point. there may be many issues here and, a diagnostics test is need at this time. Do you own the service manual for this set?

There is short circuited component/s at its circuit board. If you're sound in electronics, and wish to get more details, check this link. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Selecting the view option, either to Mosaic / Flip card, can be selected by the drop-down list, by the top left of the display window, will make surf easy. I NEED TO MOVE MY MITSUBISH VS 70709 UPSTAIRS AND I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO TAKE THE BASE OFF FROM THE SCREEN

This may be one of the models that comes apart--if it is on either side you will see two plastic caps--beneath are either regular bolts or L shaped ones you turn.

Most of the sets that had the feature needed the front screen removed first to do this.

If you do not see the black plastic caps (two on either side) it does not have that feature.
