The beeps are a bios error code. Sounds to me like a power supply or motherboard got toasted. Refer to owners manual what the beeps mean.(how many, how far apart. Longs and short beeps etc are all codes)
THe most common beeps that you will encounter 95% of the time in repairing PC's are:
1 beep - computer ok continous beeps / long beeps - memory error continous short beeps - bios boot block/corrupted bios 1 long beep followed by 3 short beeps - video card error

Most probable cause is Ram memory, please try removing modules and reinserting, also try using alternately just one of them to determine which one is defective.
Bios is checking to see if the components are recognised.. usually keyboard is "seen" first. I have to concurr with you that given the things you mention, the mobo is indeed toast, especially as there are no beeps on boot up that would indicate a specific error

You really aren't giving much info, so here are some beep - codes, also make sure nothing came loose on the motherboard or other components ( do this ONLY if you know how ) Safety first.

As you can see there isn't a code for three short beeps.
When you boot your system try to pause your boot up screen. See if the bios is reporting the correct total of memory in your system.

You have a choice in making a bootable floppy disk or a bootable CD-ROM disk. Once completed you boot your system to the testing program. Memtest will check your system memory.
