The E74 error code occurs when the Xbox 360 console experiences a general hardware failure.

To confirm your console is displaying the E74 error message, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the console.
  2. Turn on the console.
  3. Verify that your console displays the E74 error message.
If your console continues to display the E74 error message, it requires a repair.

Getting error code E74. What does that mean??

means the switch inside your device is off.... tear off ( unscrew ) the bottom hatch ( or top ) inside are a bunch of devices. look around for 2 small batteries hooked together with glue... lift them up and underneath is a red switch.... flick it on..... put everything back to normal ( dont gorget the batteries.... if you dont put the batteries back done exactly where they were, your xbox or ps3 or whatever may blow..) now you are ready to play!!

I had my 360 i was playing cod mwf2 and it suddenly froze so i turned it off and when i turned it back on a black screen came up saying e74

Try a new avcable, e74 is the code for av error, if the cable is known to be good, (tried it on another console and it worked), then you likely have a hard ware error, (likely a bad chip, but in rae cases a gpu problem is at fault). In that case professional repair is eccomended.

How to fix error 32 on a jukebox it wont play any songs and we have tryed all the buttons (at least we thiink so) and it just comes up with either error 32 or errror 30 we need to fix it

Ensure the Service switch on the credit unit is in the OFF position. Switch off and on and see exactly what it does when it first powers up and when you make a selection. The Wurlitzer One More Time does not have fixed error numbers as such.

When i switch it on,it shows errror e74,with a red light flashing.

E74: AV cable error... There is a problem with the AV cable, try using a different AV cable. If the cable is known to be working then there is a 90% chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip connected directly to the AV cable) in rare cases it is the GPU. Contact Microsoft for the Scaler chip issue.

X box wont start

E74 is a video error. First thing to do is check your video cables and ensure they are all seated properly. IF that does not fix the problem try changing your cables out or switching to a different type, ie: switch to HDMI or from HDMI to the AV Cable. However, I just experienced this very same problem a few weeks back and was unable to get anything to work and in the end was relegated to sending the Xbox back to Microsoft for repairs. If you are still under the original 1 year warranty it will obviously be a free repair or if you have an extended warranty from the store you bought it at they should be able to handle it for you. If not it will be $99 for Microsoft if you set the repair through their website or $119 if you call the toll free number and have a person help set up the repair.

Here is a recent article on the E74 error that shows the vast majority of the people who have had the problem got it AFTER the NXE update.

I was playing Fallout 3 when everytime i walked through a door it would freeze for a bit. I turned it off then when i turned it back on i got the E74 error code.

It has nothing to do with the game really....the solder is shorting out or making a bad connection under the GPU- (H)ANA chips that acts up when it heats up after u put a game in. Click here for more info on e74 Most likely you will need to replace the xclamps which do a horrible job securing the heatsinks. The best method to date is Team HYBRID's Ultimate X-clamp fix. Good Luck!

The projector switching off after 30 seconds

check the following :
1.does the lamp glow
2.do u get the connected image
3.if yes does the screen show temperature or overheat
4.if yes then one of the cooling fans do not work properly & hence the unit turns to standby & goes into protection
if no 1 does not happen, then check the lamp physically,it should not show melted or breakage.
if the lamp seems ok, then the ballast is defective!
