My zodiac cleaner keeps climbing the wall and then sucks air

You need to adjust the suction down on the cleaner. This type of cleaner only needs about 10lbs of vacuum pressure

The phantom WILL go the bottom but it flies right back to the top stays....doing nothing.....help

I have a Haymen pool cleaner also. It sounds like there is Air trapped in the unit or hoses as this is the only thing can can cause it to float up. Connect the unit to the vacuum hose and at the other end hold the hose over the pool jet whislt the filter is pumping water. This will force all of the air out, the unit will then sink again. Then, without bringing the end of the hose out of the water re-connect it to the suction point (usually in the skimmer box or on the pool wall) and it will function fine. If they don't have air in them it is impossible for it to rise up to the top.

My Polaris 3900 Sport is on it's side. I turn it back up on all 3 wheels and it hits the side of the pool and goes back on it's side again...going in circles.

With these automatic pool cleaners, if they are not staying firmly on the bottom of the pool, it is most likely that there is air in the appliance casing.Try submerging your cleaner. Keep the cleaner vertical while you are putting it in slowly to let the air out. Ensure the unit sinks to the bottom of the pool.

I'm trying to drain a pool that's Ben sitting for years full of nasty water. Pump works and operates but the fill pot on the pump itself will not stay full

Sounds like you're trying to pull water from skimmer and main drain. Soon as the level goes down, it sucks air from skimmer. Turn off skimmer line. If that's not possible, then cut off input side of pump(front pipe) and run new line to pool. Just lay it on top of ground and keep it below top by a couple of feet. This will stop all the **** on the bottom from plugging up the pump.

It will not stay on the bottom it just floats around about one foot off the bottom

Either you have an air pocket in the cleaner,or your backup valve is bad.The backup valve is the baseball sized unit on the hose going to the cleaner.

Cleaner is floating on top of pool

First, remove all of the air from the cleaner head and stop all air from entering the pool2_bing.gif through the return lines. Also, if the head and hose are covered with bubbles, give the hose a good tug. This will release the air bubbles and allow the pool cleaner to settle son the bottom of the pool. Also, the cleaner head may actually be being lifted off the bottom of the pool by the hose or the pressure in the return lines. Make sure that the hose stays untangled and the pressure from the return lines is not too low (not enought pressure to power) or too high (too much pressure that cause the unit to lift off the floor).

Pool polaris 280

If the cleaner is going too fast then it is likely that there is too much water flow at the drive turbine. Is there a pressure relief valve in the water supply line (at the edge of the pool)? If so then change the tension on the spring to allow less water to get to the cleaner's drive turbine.
The speed of the Polaris is probably the cause of the front wheel lifting as well, however if (after adjusting the water pressure) the front wheel still won't stay on the pool bottom, then perhaps adjust the little jet at the back of the casing. Mine points a little "down" towards the pool floor and this tends to raise the bac k wheel (or alternatively keeps the front wheel in contact with the pool bottom or wall).

By the way, if you want to see how the cleaner works, then search for eHow and lookm at the repair/overhaul of the Polaris 180............. the mechanism is similar.
Good luck.
