Question about Coaster 700c Road Bike Rims With Brake Ss Spokes

I just got my new bike with my 700c Road rims with a gouge

I just got my new road bike with my 700c Road Bike rims and on the inside of the rear rim is a gouge with a sharp edge. Is it fixable or do I have to return the bike and wait 3 wks to get a new one? I ordered it from Amazon, its brand new, and it was delivered via FedEx. It appears to be damaged by the person who put the tire on the rim before I received it.

The sharp edge could be polished, but its up to you what you want to do with the ppl you ordered from. just for safety, it should be blended out, so it does not crack, thats what i do on aircraft aluminum

Looking for replacement light alloy rims. 26" v2100 genesis mountain bike, ultra light rims 21 speed

What rim you need has too many variables (width of tire to be used, your weight, balance of road/off-road usage and roughness of off-road use, budget, etc.) that you have not mentioned for anyone to give an appropriate recommendation.

Secondly, unless the rims are both bent it's a waste of money and effort to replace them, as good quality rims and spokes alone (a new rim may need different length spokes) could cost almost as much as the original cost of the bike ($119), let alone when you add labor.

Finally, worrying about "ultra light" rims, especially on a bike that weighs 35+ lbs, is useless. Shaving off ounces when the bike and rider together could weigh 200 lbs. is not going to make it faster or easier to pedal.

I have vintage 60's front and rear phlanged hubs (no spokes or rims) and would like to have them made up with say rigida rims. Can anyone advise likely cost and who best to approach in west...

I can not answer the "who" to go to, but my experience is that any of the bike shops can point you in the right direction if they can not help you.

Vintage 60's hubs need to be going on a vintage 60's maybe 70's bike to work, otherwise the spacing will be off, so before starting this project make sure that these will work for what you are planning to put wheels on. Also you will have to be using a limited speed gear cluster for the rear hub, unless they are track hubs and then it's just one. Also you will need to know what size rim you are looking for to go with your bike frame. Modern road bikes use 700c but that was not the case in the 60's, they could have been any one of many different sizes and for your brakes to match up and the wheel to fit in the frame you need to know that too.

good luck, vintage parts can be fun to restore to working mechs but the older they are the less compatibility there will be.

I need to know what size spokes to get

Really, take it to a bike sop and let them look at it. Hub and rim brand and style plus lacing pattern determine the size.

I am need of new tires. The rims are Mavic, but I’m confused about sizing. The tire is a tubular. I think the size is 27 inch. How to I make sure I get the right size?

If you have a tubular tire (also called a sew-up), and you know that you have full-size wheels (either 700c or 27 inch), you need a 700c tubular. Tubular tires only come in a few sizes and the most common is the 700c. A tubular tire is a unique type of tire that usually has a tube sewn inside. This gives the tubular a round cross section and means that it must be glued onto the rim.

700c and 27 inch are actually different sizes (27 inch is slightly larger diameter than 700c), but they're often confused because they're so close and they're both found on road bikes - or have been over the years. These days, the common road-bike wheel and tire size is 700c. But, people still sometimes mistakenly refer to it as 27 inch, which was popular 25 to 30 years ago.

So, the bottom line is, if you get a tubular called a "27 inch" or "700c," it will be the same size and it will fit your wheel just fine. The size that you don't want is "650c." That size will be too small for your wheels. If you have something besides a tubular tire (if your tires aren't glued onto the rims, you don't have tubulars), to determine the size simply look carefully at the sidewalls. You'll find the tire size marked there if you look closely.

Denali GMC 700C Women's road bike wrong tires!!!

Can you explain why you think the tires are too big? Do they NOT fit the rims? What condition was this bike in when you bought it? If the brake pads line up with the rims then the wheels are correctly sized for the frame.

What size tire tube goes in a 700x28c Denali Bike tire? I installed a schwinn 26inch tube, rode the bike around the block, parked it in the garage and two hours latter, sitting in the garage, the tube blew...

700c tyres are bigger than 26".The tubes you need measure 700x28 (to32).This size is used in Hybrid style bikes.Make sure you get the same type of valve(Schreader are the same as car,Presta are narrower)or it won't fit the hole in your rim.
Make sure when inflating that the tube isn't trapped between the tyre and the rim.Only inflate to the pressure written on the sidewall of the tyre.
